OFFICIAL Blown 4-banger build updates!
lol rwd...
but yeah overbuilding the motor is a good thing, I wish I had the damn funds or the sponsors o do so, but mine should still be pretty stout and will hopefully handle the @600hp crank i plan on making

You got it!!!
Isn't it perty!?!?

Proof it has pistons in it

Proof the rods and crank are installed too

I got anxious so I installed the water pump and accessory chain/tensioner setup

Since I'm a video editor, and I shoot video as well, I have a lighting kit, which double as shop lights

Time to put it away, and wait til tomorrow to gawk at it

So as you can see, this son of a bitch is almost done!!!

That front accessory would have been a ******* bitch if I use stock balance shafts. You had to line up a certain link, with an arrow on the pulley, and make sure it was exactly right, or the crank would fly out the side of the block (not really, but maybe). With the NB shafts, you just throw em in, and put the chain on, no need to time anything with that chain

Uh, at first I'm gonna street tune, really conservative. You need to keep in mind, the average high temp where I live right now is 105 degrees, and its only gonna get hotter from there. By the time the motor is broken in, it will probably be 110+ degrees everyday. You may not know this, but 130+ degree IAT1 really hurts power production
I'm gonna dyno it in like september or october early in the morning, so I can setup a winter tune, and get accurate numbers. Trust me, I'm in no hurry to run the hell out of this thing. Keep in mind, I haven't even driven it in over a year. I'm going to enjoy the car for a while. Once I get bored, THHHEEEENNNN I'll open her up a little.

I remember once while scanning in mid day during a particularly hot summer day (125+), my IAT1 was 149 degrees, IAT2 was close to 190.... Thats how it was when I started it for the first time that day
AZ summer really do suck. Winter though, man its awesome working on your car on a nice December day with your grungy shorts and a t-shirt

You realize you will be doing the samething that's no different/harder when timing the motor with the cams?
Very very nice. ****, now I gotta save up my money for either the SS/TC or the GTO build. Decisions, decisions.
Seriously, though, I have been doing a lot of thinking. I've pretty much put the SS/TC on the back burner and figured I will save about $7K for the 428ci (gonna be 467ci) on the side of my dad's house in AZ, and keep the 2.2L balt for a DD. I figure I can sell the stock 428 crank for a few hundo. And I could probably sell the old heads and motor that I blew.
Probably take me 6-12months to do it though.
That is unless I get this firefighter job.
I will be back in November, so I expect at least one WOT ride along.
