once you get to certain power levels there's always tradeoff's to be made my man.
gt3071 full boost @3500 rpm, makes boost at idle (seriously) will pull pretty hard and will make your 400whp on a relatively low boost level (@22-23psi on a stock motor)
Can a 3071 make 400 whp on pump gas? Thats 91 octane, with 9.5:1 compression. I'm sure the compression will help spool the turbo, but it will also probably hurt pump gas performance seeing as I won't be able to run a lot of boost. Race gas will be redonculous.

It can. They had one on another NY local before it blew. Made something like 39xwhp on pump

it's back up and running again.... this motor didn't have 50 bottles of nitrous sprayed through it lol.
337/321 on a conservative tune and 15.68 psi. GT3071R
run @15-16 degrees of timing and @23 psi should get you close to 400whp on pump gas.

say a 55mm turbine wheel in a SS .63 T3 housing, along with a DBB CHRA and a 71 (or smaller) compressor wheel.

So if that turbo setup will meet my wants, then why doesn't everyone do that?

because nobody takes the god dam time to look, research, and understand parts.

they all go ask there buddy, and of course, hes always correct.

I'm sure you could pull a turbo like that out of any catalog, Garrett, turbonetics, precision, ect.

a mid size, small frame 28r, or 5031RB from precision.

i'm not a turbonetics fan, multiple bad experiences.

ummm... 40 rolls are useless these days. I don't get traction at WOT til @120mph lol. roll races must take place above 80 and start in 3rd gear then maybe I have a chance of getting traction on street tires lol. Stupid part throttle crap pisses me off.
As for 06black, he's 100% correct on that. Wish I had a clue when I was doing my turbo stuff. I'm new to this game but have learned a ton from him and from a few other cars I did. I'll probably be switching my own setup around very soon to something a bit more street friendly. 60-1 is a laggy sombitch. But goddamn when it comes in, it's an absolute monster.

try doing a dig on street tires.... it's funny watching a stock cobalt pull 5 lengths off the hit, then you just come blowing past them like they aren't even moving

Thats the kinda **** thats gonna make me regret getting a turbo. I'll prolly end up killing myself, when I do aero mods (under car tray, rear defuser, slammed, ect) and try to hit 200 mph. Thats about the only thing it will be good for

With the smaller turbo you won't have that issue. My car just doesn't fully spool til 3rd gear lol. 2nd becomes a haze of tire smoke if I try to give it full boost.

with you, were looking at a 68-71mm compressor wheel and a 53mm turbine.

mine is a 78mm compressor and a 68mm turbine.

quite the size difference.

I want to make at least 500 whp on race gas by the way.... Once again I can't stress enough, the gas I have out here and my compression ratio severly limit my pump gas performance, so I'll need a decent sized turbo. I want at least 400 whp on pump gas, but my real concern is race gas.

well now your just being a pain in the ass.

you want things that not even your half-ass blower set up would deliver, no matter how demented you are.

now we have to start looking at, at least 76mm wheels with at least 58-60mm turbine.

any other demands?

well spoken lol.
as I said before once you want to get to a "high" hp level, there are going to be certain tradeoffs

Like I said. I've got a Precision SC62 turbo with less than 3k miles on it. It'll work well for you.

$500 + shipping...

Here is it new:

Cold Side is a .60A/R
Hot Side is a .63A/R

Capable of some POWA!

What is your beef with turbo's anyways? What negatives do you see? What positives do you see? You talk about roasting your tires or killing yourself etc... But you have the same goal for power (500hp) with either application. Regardless if your M62 can get you that high, its just a trade-off. Neither are perfect, but you seem to be tossing Turbo's under the bus..

Currently, I can leave an intersection and haul bawls because of instant boost. That ability will be no more with a GT35. Or passing a car on the freeway. Now I can blow past a car no problem on the freeway without even downshifting out of 5th gear! In order for that to happen with a turbo I'll need to downshift to ****** 3rd gear at 70 mph to be able to move anywhere! That is what kills me! Right now my car feels awesome, its got good low end torque 2000-3000 rpm then at 4000-5000 it REALLY wakes up, unfortunately at 5300 the blower stops building boost

As for the turbo your selling. Sorry man, nothing but a Garrett turbo will be going on my car. I've always been a fan of Garrett turbos (keep in mind, a turbo doesn't bother me at all if its on an engine with 6 or more cylinders).
