They way I'm getting my intercooler (custom made), I may go with an air-water intercooler. A nice large resevior, so when I race or what not I can dump freezing cold water in there and have lower than ambient IAT2.
2 words for you METH INJECTION
I keep forgetting you live on the sun.

God your grammar is horrible... Anywho, yeah I know air-air is good for street, and air-water is better for racing only.

**** it. Summer here kills everything, I'll just run like 5 psi.

I'm throwing around ideas *******
Im talking about the awesome built motor you got.

Ahem, I live on Mercury... Closest planet to the sun.

Also, I'd rather run 5 psi or go N/A during the summer than use water/meth.

Oh. Yeah, I took it up to 8200 a few times. My friend said it sounded like a dirt bike

ok.. you're stooping to the level to insult peoples grammar? seriously man grow up..

and furthermore.. ok you're throwing ideas out there.. thats fine.. but do some research for yourself.. i'm sure the gurus on here didn't have someone holding their hand every step of the way when they first got into it ...

hell i didn't know **** about 4 cylinders until 2006 when i bought my car .... and though i'm no where near the level some people are on it.. i know a **** load more then a good portion of the people on this board... which is unfortunate considering my general lack of knowledge..

and you know how i learn all of it .. research... emails to companies more research, and more and more research

sorry i'm not trying to be a dick .. but stop looking for more knowledgeable members to hold your hand through your build

learn it yourself or when something goes wrong you'll be SOL... when you dont know anything about your own setup you proper ******* yourself if anything goes wrong

and if by saying you'd rather drop the psi or run NA during the summer then use meth... you clearly need to research meth alot more

unfortunately dude the laws of physics don't bow to your wants my man. You will need something whether it be an ice box setup or an intercooler sprayer to even think of maintaining any sort of power with the retarded air temps you deal with.
Water/meth is a damn lifesaver, been in use for years, even used by the air force when they were still using piston driven planes.

I don't know **** about turbos and stuff like that, there fore I am trying to learn from people who have experience with turbos on Ecotec engines. As for the engine its self, I know plenty. I learned plenty when I assembled my engine in my kitchen.

Also, I always give Bryan **** about his grammar

Paul, like I said earlier, I have accepted the fact that I will just have to tune my car WAY down for the summer months, besides, even at stupidly low boost levels I should still be at like 300 whp.

lolz.
hell run at low boost if need be man. That's the one thing I love about NY, sea level, doesn't get rediculously hot, and good gas.

Ah, you know today I was out, in the nice 70 degree weather, with the wind gusting lightly on my t-shirt

Yeah, I'm just gonna run really low boost in the months when the sun descends on the earth

So could a GT-K 550 make 400 whp on 91 octane, in temperatures below the boiling point of water? AKA Any month thats not May through August

I don't see why it wouldn't, when my car with its tiny turbo and zero bolt-ons makes close to 300 in the summer heat. You would be running lower boost at 400 than I am now. Plus you'd have a more efficient i/c set up, better exhaust, cams, head, etc. etc.

Turbonetics hasn't released the compressor maps for the snake units yet. They did however just release the water cooled ones iirc.

yeah I did some searching last night after that post and couldn't find a map anywhere. It's basically an S trim GT35r though. Should be right around the same map.

Oh well, I'm going with GT-K 550. If it doesn't make 400 whp on 91 octane, I'm gonna be pissed, but with 9.5:1 compression, and some Q16 it should make over 500 whp, so I'm happy.

Just cause I didn't throw this in when you came to the realization that you needed a turbo to make the power you want.

I TOLD YOU SO...

anyway. dude...you seem to have the idea that the latest and greatest/and/or custom is the only way to make power. You need to sit down, run the numbers, and be ******* realistic. Seriously. Nobody really gives a **** with custom this and custom that. Get the stuff that works and is suited for your REALISTIC end goals.

And if you don't know how to run the numbers, learn how to.

Well, my goals are to make the most power possible with 91 octane and no meth, and get peak boost at a reasonable RPM. I can guarantee that's not gonna happen with a ******* mass produced log manifold, and a hacked up supercharger housing. Which would merit the idea of a custom/ready made sheet metal intake, and CUSTOM exhaust manifold. How bout you let me do my build how I want, and butt out. Sound good, Mr. Used Holset turbo that doesn't spool til 90,000 rpm?
Awesome

Awesome
*sigh**... his used holset turbo that doesn't spool till 90k rpm will probably stop on your car even after you're at your "optimal" setup
