Wire Tuck (with pics)
I'm still getting a bad misfire in cylinder 4 so I'm in talks with a local machine shop to have a valve job done, surface the cylinder head seating surface, have it pressure checked for cracks. Since I'm using the Saab B207R head that comes with 6mm Intake manifold bolt holes, I'm going to have them tap the head to have 8mm like the LSJ. After that I am going to rebuild the cylinder head with gen 3 lash adjusters (previously I used gen 1) and I'm changing the intake cam to the Pre cobalt L61 cam with the hex drive pressed into the end. And I'm looking to have the exhaust cam modified to help with some other things

Im fairly certain its the other way around. The earlier l61s used the same specs for lift and duration but the lsj had less overlap because its boosted.
here ill post a photo
plus lets not forget im not actauly an lsj the electronics crank rods and pistons are all 2.2 running the LSJ cams without the proper tune would be bad and since im an 06 2.2 hpt does not support my computer so tune updates on that level have to be done through trifecta and im never letting them touch my computer again
well the head is removed, looks like the pcv valve failed and flooded the intake manifold with oil, the exhaust valves have caked on deposits about 1-2mm thick in some places... its bad, after i get the head to the machine shop im going to remove the pistons and take a look at the rings and make sure none are broken or damaged. also one of the exhaust studs broke off in the head so another job for the machine shop
small update today, since i had a bolt break off in the head and all the header and turbo hardware is rusted i decided to upgrade the exhaust studs in the head and on the turbo manifold to stainless forged ARP studs. As a Christmas present I got a specialty flaring tool to use stainless steel tubing with AN fittings, powder coating oven and dual voltage powder coating gun for a future project... also in other news its likely that there wont be another update for a week or so, my dog died today and right now i just don't have the heart to mess with the car.
got the cylinder head beck from the machine shop yesterday, its on the car and the car is running like a bat out of hell, pics to come soon. a few things to note, first i swapped out the original L61 exhaust cam i was using for another L61 intake cam with the hex so i am now running two L61 intake cams in the engine and the results are surprising. also the lifter tick is gone gone gone, the gen 3 lash adjusters really did the trick. i also lined the fire wall with a heat shield to prevent the paint from being messed up any further than it is. i do have one problem and that is a P0108 code for MAP sensor and that is from damaging one of the wires on the connector so i will go to pick n pull tomorrow to get a new MAP sensor pigtail
I'm only running 13psi at least till i can tune my fuel trims with a wide-band, my glow-shift wide-band crapped out on me
right now things are off a bit since I'm actually running on all 4 cylinders
but i will say the car is a lot of fun to drive now so I'm just enjoying it as is but you never know tax return season is right around the corner
on another note the car has a very loud deep exhaust sound with the intake cam in the exhaust slot, probably due to the longer duration and lift. I'm very happy with the sound
I replaced the stupid coolant tube that runs along the front of the engine that used the banjo fitting, I can not tell you how much I hate banjo fittings. surprisingly enough the threads of the banjo were a straight cut thread the same an a 1/8 npt port so i ran a pipe tap through it to open the top threads a bit and ran -6AN line

well I broke something today, I've got smoke pouring out the exhaust not sure if its coolant or oil, engine or turbo. if it is the turbo I'm gonna ditch the k04 I've seriously gone through like 4 of those at this point, not sure whats in the future but I've got options on both ends
