Working in the service industry you must know that most techs ork on a flat rate per job. Have you ever asked me how long it took me the first time I swapped my clutch.......12hrs. I bet a clutch swap at GM would be damn near 1000$ I am offering to do it for half the cost. Just because i can do it in 4 hrs now doesnt make it any easier of a job to do. How come at hss if a job is 6 hrs book time, and one of your techs completes the job in 4 hrs the customer is still charged a full 6 hrs?!?!

Well I'm a small engine mechanic by trade so if I can rebuild motorcycle engines and transmissions I'm sure I can tackle this project. Just take my time and follow the steps. It would be nice for him to do it while I help but so I know how but the guy isn't just my tuner, he's a good friend but not when it comes down for help lol. I don't mind paying him for his time but not $100+ an hour

Well my time is worth something,as is yours. Swaping a clutch for half of anywhere else is a good deal. I have many projects on the go aka my shop. Talon. Pats header. Siding and shingling my house.saying I'm no good for help is kind of a low blow. Where would your car be without a good tune on it? Sputtering in the 10:1 afr range with your shotty ottp tune it had on it. I really hope that you do find a HP tuners box to purchase and use yourself. Not because then I would t have to tune your car, but then you may truly appreciate how hard/complex of a program it is to use and how much time is invested in tuning a car properly.
As in helping me I meant helping me and it not costing me in some way. I used drivers hoist and he helped me put in my header and exhaust all day. Didn't ask for a dime. I completely understand your time is worth something. I guess it's just worth more than I'm willing to pay for a clutch swap lol. I don't care I'll have to figure stuff out eventually. Personally, Kevins right, everyones time is worth something to them. However, personally saying if a friend needs help my time becomes free for them.

I'm the same way. But enough cutting tension with a knife lol. It's my birthday next Monday and on Saturday night a bunch of us are going to Speedworld if anyone wants to join.
I have called about a dozen shops to do the labour on my clutch swap including GM and they have all come in between $550 up to $750. I may end up going to a friend of a friend who works during the week at a dealership and does these jobs on the side. So he said he might do it for 200 - 300 but thats if he wants too he said they are a pain in the ass to do on these cars and he would like to find a hoist to do it on. My $.02. As for a party sounds good to me.
im the same way,if its something easy for me i dont usaully charge anything for it.if its a pain in the ass i am charging for my time.... plain and simple.

PM kennyspec. If anyone around here has anything kickin around to help you it's him. I know he's chewed out like 3 3rd gears lol. He ended up upgrading to an F23 transmission. Maybe something to think about also.

Hey guys. Been a while since I checked on this thread. It has been one shitty summer for me. Anywho, I didn't filter through all the posts since my last visit....might do so tommorow. I did notice some tuning talk, and a tune is what I need so hopefully somebody has L67 skills lol.
