Anybody know a good engine shop? I was at D&W custom engines and from what I understand, they would be building my motor which isn't exactly what I want.

So any other options would be helpful

Well I'm trying but when I went to talk about machine work, the guy said they were gonna check the crank and rod bearings, piston clearances and ring clearances.

Hence me asking if anybody knows a good engine shop!

D&W is good, but Rod's ego is a little overinflated, and he screwed up my last DOHC motor I sent him... his screw up was wholly at my cost.

There is a shop that is not too far from unlimited performance that many people in town seem to like - it's a smaller shop, but I got BAD vibes when I talked to them about checking/sizing titanium rods...
??

I would say that if you have down time that you should go talk to Billy over at Economy Cylinder heads - this guy is a total straight shooter, and fairly well networked with the local machinists ect...
He was the preferred shop where we sent our heads to when I was in the industry (at a small local mechanic shop).

I would encourage you to assemble it yourself, but if you can afford it, getting it assembled & warrantied by a shop is nice - but they might require having the head done by a local reputable shop that they deal with - especially since this is a DOHC motor...

Talk to Billy...

Ah ok gotcha. When I was looking to do the same (get resleeved ect) before I found a semi built short block all together I called all the heavy hitter shops around here. And I didnt trust a single one of them. Sport compact motor builds are few and far between around here and I was getting responses like "never done it but ill try". No thanks lol. I was going to get the work done in the states and then ship it up here.

I mean it as no knock to anyone else, but it is known as more of a hook-up site, and I was flat out told on a couple occasions that I was on the wrong site...

Finding a devoted Christian gal on that site, IMHO is akin to a needle in a haystack.
