But seriously, these new developments all kinda blow - they don't have any real infrastructure, and are developed with one single motivation in mind;
more single dwelling lots sold = more money

This is what started in Calgary around the mid 1990's ~ even though the lot sizes are larger, you can see it in the Mackenzie area - it's all residential with pretty much nothing else;
in these communities you are forced to drive somewhere to get any shopping ect done...
Midnapore used to have it's 'mall' as the hub of the community, you could go there for your groceries or what ever you needed ~ I spent many childhood terrible winter days going to 'the mall' just for something to do...
Then it got redeveloped by the current (read: foreign) owner to maximize occupancy ~ it changed from an indoor mall to an outdoor mall and the grocery store left.

I have a grocery store and really anything else I need a short walk from my place - and that has major perks...

notice how you need to get into your car to get anywhere/anything? ~ that's what sucks about the new neighborhoods.
better yet;
if this happens in August, maybe I'll have some furniture upstairs, and everyone can come over to (legally) consume beverages at my place ~ I'm all of about a four minute drive from the track...

since I don't drink beer, murphy's law would dictate that I'd buy something that no one would want... (back on to the neighborhood deal) plus there's a beer store a short walk from my place too!

 

hahaha I got a sobeys, post office, liquer store, pub, subway,coffe shop and etc. about a 5 minute walk from my place.

As for racie city, if my stuff comes in while I'm gone and hopefully it does. I'm thinking around the 7th of august or whenever they have the races around there

I have an aqquaintance who for years would buy a derelict place in Forest Lawn, fix it, then sell;
After a while he had to buy a couple big guard dogs just to deter thieves... and he told me flat out that they were put to use on several occasions...

I have a great aunt who (iirc) lives in Forest Lawn (she never had much to do with my family ect, so I don't really know her) ~ and for a time I thought most of the stories about forest lawn were just that - stories.. I was told that I was wrong.

I've helped a friend buy a coupel cars out of Forest Lawn too - every single won was stolen at one time or another, sometimes on multiple occasions.

Bowness is a nicer area too, but it's not too far off FL's reputation.

those are their old posted rules (don't ask me why they won't update their site/info - that's simply beyond me);
They used to require helmets just becasue they could - they also had a ton of helmets on hand to rent;
Since all their helmets are now out of spec (iirc snell 95 is not NFG according to NHRA/IHRA), they no longer require/rent them;
btw before they required you to have a helmet, they charged $20 for driver/car ~ now they just stick it to us for that extra five bucks.

the 13.99 rule is in all the NHRA/IHRA books for street class cars.

I have a couple year old IHRA book if you would like top see it.

I haven't needed to wear a helmet there (thankfully) for the last couple years...

IMHO, there is nothing more retarded than having to wear a helmet, trapping Deerfoot-esque speeds and having an elapsed time in the 16~18 second range...

they do encourage helmet use, but imho, they are nothing but a cumbersome nusance for run of te mill street cars ~ which is why (imo) NHRA/IHRA don't require helmets for 14.00+ E/T cars

I don't plan on being there for sunday - the friday night cruise is really where it's at...
I mean having to deal with near-extortion hotel prices (I mean it's Lethbridge) doesn't really justify me staying...
I do have family in Lethbridge, but not the kind that would be ok with me coming & going at all times...
eg: never once has a key to my grandparents house been offered to myself or anyone in my immediate family...
All my aunt's/uncles have kids, and it's understandable that they wouldn't want people coming & going at all hours...

no I have been only showing up for Friday night for a couple years - if I'm there on Saturday it's purely because I've crashed at a family members place for night (be it planned or unplanned).

I really need to get more done around the house than I need to waste a weekend out of town...

When I posted earlier about having no furniture upstairs I meant it - and right now I'm in no rush to furnish partially becasue I need to repair/clean up walls & repaint;
I'm pretty much done steam cleaning everything,
