you should never tune without the proper monitoring such as at the very least a wideband. to go one step further you would want a pyrometer for exhaust temps and some sort of sensor or gauge that can detect knock.

but if he's not doing the tuning, why not leave that up to the tuner?

I mean a dyno tune (not that I'd presume he's planning on it) should have all the monitoring devices on hand...

but without tuning capability, having any kind of a data collector (or whatnot) is just money wasted on bling ~ or am I wrong?

P.S. - it's nice to see you posting up this morning Steve - you're not online much of late!?
(I was online more than you have been of late, back when I didn't have internet @ home!?!)

Ok, I had to share this post over here;

click on either of the links in that quote I posted - post #1 of that thread actually tells you how to make one (which is how I made my current one), or you can post at teh end of the tread asking for one to be made...

No any reputable tuner will not tune without a minimum of a wideband, part of tuning is the responsibility of the car owner to make sure everything is running fine after the fact

When you tune your car you set a commanded afr for cruise, medium throttle and wot. If your afrs are fine at cruise and medium but lean out under wot and you don't have a way to tell if its leaning out you will blow your motor.

The pyrometer is to meter obviously how hot your exhaust temps are. If your exhaust temps are extremely high then your tune is not perfect. Same thing with knock, if your knocking something is wrong with the tune and needs to be addressed

I would put money in any aftermarket body kit needing "tweaking" to fit the car just right - apparently even the aftermarket CF body panels (which are supposed to be bolt on btw) are terrible...

I wouldn't even paint an OE panel (ect) without doing a test fit... but maybe I'm picky.

........................

on an unrelated note do any of you freze frame to read the ramblings that are on right at the end of shows like big bang, or two & a half men?

I didn't know those ramblings are on a web site!?

i may be able to help you dry fit the body kit, and install.... dry fitting it is absolute must.... there is a couple of balts in town with body kits that i have noticed.... there is a red 2.2L down by the train tracks at barlow. at the building across the tracks from esso. it really looks like a real nice ride. he has duals too and if i recall it has the 4 round tips across the rear... wheels so on, so on... i have been meaning to stop by and put a card on his window. to see if he goes here at all...

Welcome to the site man! Been a few new guys comin on, thats awesome...

People usually meet saturdays at the timmies on Barlow and 61 ave, I've only made it once though... That being said, looks like this weekend is gonna be stellar (compared to our **** of a season called summer)... so I'm thinkin we should get people out this weekend. I can make it, who else is in?

welcome!

out of the group of us who do, or have gotten thogether, outtamymind & kissrocker52 both have SS/2.4L cars (so either of them would probably be the best ones to talk to about what you could do to your car), most of the calgary guys here seem to have an SS/SC.
I have seen two other cobaltss.net members at a meet or whatnot, who have an SS/Tc, but so far it seems that I'm the solitary CSS.net member with an SS/TC who will meet up with the guys...
