Calgary - random talk thread
I tried suggesting that he de-mod & sell his car, to buy an SS/SC to start off with.
That might seem crazy, except for the fact that all SS"s are still worth something, and actually the model year has more to do with the cars' worth that if it's a 2.4L or 2.0L...
so if you look at the value of your car, and the value of a comparable model year SS/SC, often the price gap will be less than one of those turbo kits...
then you have to decide if you're going to pay a shop to do the installation or not...
IMHO, I wouldn't mess with an SS/2.4 too much;
If modifying a cobalt I'd got one of three routes:
- naturally aspirated '05-'08 2.2 "L61" (there's alot you can do to these cars)
- Supercharged '05-'07 2.0L "LSJ"; TVS/ Trifecta 'Stage3' / integrated nitrous dry shot ect...
- Turbocharged '08-'10 2.0L "LNF"; there's alot coming out right about now - last time I checked there is a bolt on setup that dynoed something like 525hp...

The problem with the LE5 is that it's virtually passed over as far as aftermarket support goes;
I would have previously thought that 200-225whp should be attainable while staying naturally aspirated, but I'm just not seeing it.
Plus you have to think, that at the end of the day if/when you sell your car, that supercharger kit will not add one cent to the car's perceived value - it might actually hurt it, as any prospective buyer will assume the worst (eg: it's been driven hard ect...)
Kissrocker was contemplating this last year;

I asked zzp if they were going to do a 2.4 build and they said, possibly in a few weeks, they will put One in ryans car and build and develop it. So maybe by this time next year they will be putting down good numbers on the le5
