2005 Cobalt SS - Intake/Filtered vs My Stock 2002 C32 AMG 1/8th

Not to bad of a run for Cobalt SS if you ask me, his reaction time was a 1.20 and got a 2.27 on his 60'

I had a terrible start myself, (plus I suck major ass at launching my car) had a reaction time around the same 1.19 and a 60ft of 2.09 ...ended up catching and pulling but the stock SS gave a good run at start.

Think his best of the day was a 9.80 @ 74mph 1/8th

My best was a lame 8.90 @ 79.94 (which is pathetic!); then again was running on Bridgestone Blizzak's winter tires heh; should be yanking a 8.40 stock @ 84mph

Just thought I would toss a video over to the Cobalt SS crew, good representing of your kin!

2002 C32 AMG Bone Stock (60k miles) vs. 2005 Cobalt SS Intake/Filtered

My Best run of the day vs a Turbo Probe GTS, which still sucked ass

Probably didnt help spinning through 2nd gear (past the 60'ft marker), but even on the best run of the day woulda got walked
Getting owned by a 440RWHP Supra

Nice!! I should have probably researched before asking, but what is the C32 AMG's powerplant? A co-worker of mine just bought a CL55 AMG...
He laid waste to a CTS-V one day on the way to lunch lol.

It was an SS/SC. They didn't make an N/A SS in 2005. He drives a 12-13 second car(AMG c32).

Wow. The C32 is no slouch. That is impressive. All the SS/SC had was an intake, and air filter? Wow!

That car looks like a 2.4 SS I think the original poster has made an error. Or the owner swapped spoilers and took off the 2.0 SS bodykit.

From the looks of that video, yes it was a 2.4l SS Cobalt (N/A).

Nice ride btw!

Either way the outcome would still be the same.

Not necessarily. I've seen S/C SS's be over a second faster than the 2.4 SS. Nothing against the 2.4 guys at all, in fact I'm impressed with the way they run being naturally aspirated! But had that been a S/C SS with a good driver, I think it would've been a close race!

Holy **** man nice of ya to get a vid of me . My 60fts unfortunatly werent that good 2.4's the 3 times i ran. And don't worry that supra ate my launch my last run. The car can definatly run 9.7s maybe lower it just had horrible wheel hop, and its my first manual car.

It would be a close race with me driving on a drag strip if it was a second faster ya... and with my car still having winter tires on...

rewind a year ago with nitto drag wheels and 1/4 mile

A bone stock C32 AMG with Drag Radials; soon Evosport Stage 1, then I will be bugging the older Z06's

SS/SCs don't run a second faster in the 1/8. For reference Tofu ran a 8.97 in the 1/8 on his 13.8 pass. The guy in the NA SS ran a 9.80 against the AMG's 8.90, I think. So either way a stock C32 AMG would/should cover most SS/SCs pretty easily.

If they're close to stock, yes the C32 should win, I was just implying that with a good driver, it should be a fairly close race with a S/C SS. I'll have to see what Rob's 1/8th mile time and mph were. He ran 13.5@104.8 mph with a crappy 2.1 60'.

Just checked the stats. They do have more power and torque, but according to that site, they're about ~600lbs heavier too. What do these cost new?

Well, brand new in 2004 (last year the C32 AMG was made) it was 54,000.00 sticker. 2002 - 2003 they were 49k and 52k respectfully.

These days you can find them on ebay and such with about 40k to 60k miles on them for about 26-29k

IMO one of the best sleepers out there... not many know about them and the price for a used one is pretty good.

Here is some hi res shots of mine

The C55 N/A was the replacement for the C32 for 2005 and 2006, next year, 2007 will be a C63 ... yes 6.3L V8 516HP 563FT TQ stock

All near the 60k mark brand new...the C55's used are coming down near the 37k mark used

Very nice car you have!! Looks great, and you're right definitely a sleeper! I didn't know they were that fast! However, they are not in the same league as us. That's alot of money for a car. To each his own, and you have a nice car. Take care.

I agree on to much money, thus i waited a year and a half before I bought it, snagged it for 33.9k ..which was the most I wanted to spend on a car.

Mucho love for the Cobalt though, i had a 1994 Z24 cavlier V6 that got me through college, loved that car...

After I saw the cobalt at the track a few weeks back, prompted me to take a gander at the cobalt, like what it all was about and such...

No offence but I definently don't consider it a sleeper. I think every new(ish) AMG runs low 13s or 12s and a couple of them are in the 11s I believe, bone stock. They are all fast cars and most people should know that.

Rob's best 1/8 was 8.83 and I don't think that was on one of his 13.5 runs.
