Went to the drag strip yesterday.... PERSONAL BEST!
Good luck man, I've never been able to get a good run in there because the prep is so shitty. Wish you could roll with us, we are gonna have a huge cobalt cruise!

I didn't know about CHevyfest. I'll have to look into it.
Thanks again. I didn't experience any cut out in third. I do have the COT tuned out as well. I feel like the only thing I can do to improve is get my launch down for a better 60' and to nail my shifts a bit better.
This car has low 12's written all over it.
WoW! Good time and trap! We got the same mods except I have a new IC. We even have the same tires, lmao. Im surprised you got that quick with these tires. Im impressed/
WHo tuned you? what boost you making? I got a BYT HPTune right now and my dyno was 299whp and 327trq with slipping clutch. Do you have an aftermarket clutch?

What intercooler did you end up going with?? I think that and meth are my next mods.
Same tires too?! Which, the Conti's or the NITTO's? I ran the Conti's this time and my NITTO's are going back on soon.
I tuned me.
With some help from my previous tuner and his dyno that I've been using since I started modding. He's been tuning GM for years and I learned a lot from him. I also learned from Term and BYT as well. The car runs about 24-25 PSI right now. Clutch is stock, turbo is stock, tranny is original as well as the rest of the drivetrain, no suspension mods or anything. All that's done is what's listed in my sig.
I feel very fortunate that everything is holding up and working so well. The only things I've had to replace were the rear brakes last year and the MAP sensor that blew out about a month ago.
Good job for street tires!!
Have you tried running your tires with a bit more pressure? I know alot of people seem to have better luck in the 28psi range on street tires as they tend to bow upwards in the center if you run them with low pressures.
You might of already tried this...but I figured I'd lend the advice anyways.
Keep up the good work!

And, no, I haven't tried more pressure.... I get what you're saying about the tire bowing up in the middle with less pressure... but more air presure? That definitly reduces contact pacth, though.
Someone at the track when I went for my very first time told me about how to see your contact patch and that would tell you how much pressure you can run. Basically, you just let air out a little at a time, roll your car through a small puddle on flat ground (just to get the tire a little wet) and look at the tread path on dry ground. You can see how much of your tire is actually touching and you can deflate/inflate accordingly... That's how I found that about 24 PSI gives me the widest contact patch in these tires. This is all on the drive tires only.
BUT, I am all for trying new things and I'll give the 28psi a shot next time I go. I'll do whatever works!

I don't experience any wheel hop, really. Only when it kinda bogs. I slip the clutch a lot to balance wheel spin with grip.
Thats a good trick! Never thought of that.
Give 28psi a try...worst case it doesn't work as well and then air them down to 24 again.
The idea is that when the pressure gets low the center part of the tread bows inward towards the center of the wheel...I'm not sure why that happens but thats the threory...lol
The best way really is to start at 30psi and go down 2psi every 2-3 passes....write down your 60' for each pass....and see if on average you are getting better 60's, once you notice them getting worse go back up 1 psi to they get better again....that should be your best tire pressure.
Alot of the time that doesn't work tho since its hard to get that many passes in in a day.
Let us know how it goes!

Will do! I'll give some of this a try. I'm all for new methods, ideas and suggestions. I just do what I do because it's worked for me so far.
Thanks again everyone.

THANKS!
Meth Kit should be coming in, so I hope that helps a bit. Gonna air up the rear tires next time. I didn't do it for this run... didn't even occur to me
oops.

^This
Just takes practice.... and a lot of slipping the clutch.
I hold rpm's at about 2800-3000 and then slip the clutch. I feel for traction and then just GO. I DO NOT NLS into 2nd and then I NLS into 3rd. Before, I use to ride out third all the way to 7000 rpm and across the line but I noticed the car drops off in a lot of power up there. SO, this time I NLS into 4th at 6000 rpm. Took me across at the 113.9, my highest trap ever.
Recap...
Slip clutch at launch at 3000 rpm.
shift regular into 2nd at 6800-7000 rpm
NLS into 3rd at 6000 rpm
NLS into 4th at 6000 rpm.
That's consistent high 12.'s for street tires for me. Might be different for you. Everyone does things different.

I put mine back to stock for a while and then raised it to 6500RPM like the GMS1.
