Yeah, but you're leaving out the part where it was in Paul's car.

I have the money but i'm still not sure this is the best option.. For 2k and only getting 2 gears and nothing else done to the transmission? Does everyone really think this will hold the power and not blow a hole through the transmission? And is it really gonna be better than ZZp's? I really don't know **** about transmissions so i really don't know what to do haha..

I'm kind of right here too.

I personally think that the new gears would only be addressing the symptom, not the problem. As I have said a number of times... the reason that 3rd gear strips its teeth, is not sheer power (at lower power levels, at least). Its from Flex. The Input/Output shafts (along with the case) flex under the torque load, separating the gears so that they are only engaged on the tips of the teeth.

Well my question is how many people have blown the transmission launching or in 1st or 2nd gear? I'm sure wheel hop causes the most damage and i think it will blow just like stock but you will be out a lot more money.

Wheel hop is an EXTREMELY easy fix though. And AFAIK, not too many people actually blow up transmissions launching or going WOT in 1st or 2nd. I've only ever seen true issues with gears failing in 3rd gear. Synchros failing, etc... that's a whole different ball game. I've had a 2nd gear synchro fail. Still have the trans sitting in my garage actually. Been 4 1/2 years now. Damn.

I dont think they are going to just do the two gears and be done. And I have never seen a lsd blow or first and second from power or launching. I believe they will fix the issue with the flexing shafts, which is what zzp does by making all the tolorances tighter. Wheel hop will not blow the tranny. Maybe the axle. And me personally will pay the extra 200 for the bracing just to be safe. I think this is the best option so far, and it has not even been brought to market, but I know it will be tested very well if I do get it. I would test it for them if they need to lol.

2 is $550 (TX)
3 no price listed (TX)

2 in your neck of the woods waiting to be snatched up

Thats alot cheaper then those 4.45 gears seeing as its a straight bolt in and go.
Heh Heh Heh. I bought my 4.45 trans complete for $175 Saab 900 F35 After I tore it down all the scrap was worth $75

this is true except the main shaft goes through the front bell housing before the gears strip...had one lnf still drove okay with the shaft peeking through the front case, dripping oil of course...

I run mounts obtained from John Powell. I wouldn't do it any other way.

Wheel hop can/will crack the trans case though. That was a huge issue for a long time, for the SS/SC's. I think that's part of why they increased the thickness of the Trans case with the LNF's.

Yea I do remember that now. I think the mounts we run help alot, they keep things stiff but allow some movement at the same time. I think the trans case breaks with solid mounts, I would like to see the failures with what mounts were used.

I understand you guys will have some doubts about this, but all of these topics have been addressed already in previous pages. When John first talked to me he said the evo guys were blaming their 4th gear failures on case flex as well. After he did a set for them they have pushed his gears with tighter tolerances to 600 awhp and they are still holding fine. I would say there is considerably more case flex at 600 horse compared to 400, and he didn't brace their trans at all.

When he took my trans apart the first thing he e mailed me was our "gears" are way too weak for what we are trying to push through them. I'm not completely ruling out case flex as a potential problem, but not near as big of a problem as everyone makes it seem. I trust John and his knowledge on these topics more than anyone. First hand experience rather than hear say.

The gears he is building us will fix our problem completely. I don't think any of us will ever scatter 1 or 2, especially with things like a wot box that take a ton of stress off of those gears during shifts. With all that said i hope you guys can trust that every angle of this has been thought of and if 1 and 2 would have been manufactured as well none of you would have bought this trans mod due to sheer price, and would have still had doubts about it. So right now I think this is out BEST option hands down.

How do you like the yz? I do a lot of woods riding so I have a 250f for that and I just picked up an Rm250 the other week. I missed the old 2 strokers

The yz is a beast, but believe it or not the yfz beats it pretty bad lol. We do some woods riding and the yz is great, especially if you like hill climbs, a 250 will do it but it is just so fun with the extra power.
