Why put in a motor with stock parts when i can upgrade for about the same cost? Plus over 100k will still make me nervous throwing boost at it

She has been up for awhile. Nobody wants to buy a car with 200k. This is really my only option. I was gonna sell and buy an lnf but i havent gotten a single call on it

U can trade that sum bitch in for scrap. At a dealer anyways. They take a bullshit trade and give you credit for cash down.

Dont get all butt hurt because i dont want to buy ur engine when i can spend the same amount to make mine bulletproof. Thats idiotic. I have money to spend but im not gonna waste it on parts that dont need to be replaced. And i sure as hell am not gonna put an engine in with 100k over it. The only one here crying is you

3k? You wouldn't have a high car payment lol are you high or just really young and ignorant? That's a good chunk off a car payment kid. A REALLY good chunk. Just got an 09 mini S for 19k last November, paying like 315 a month. 0 down. You could do 6 years or more with 3k down and pay way less than that on 25k.. just food for thought.

Do u realize i still owe 3k on it? That means i get $0. And no dealer offered me 3k i was just saying that i would get that for a trade in. I got offered 5500 last night but i didnt take it. Like i said i still owe 3 so that would leave me with 25 and i only make 1600 a month so i cant get a high amount loan with that. Like i said im a broke ass college kid. So i just want to know what internals i can replace without pulling the engine. The head is getting sent to a machine shop so i just gotta decide what to replace bottom end. Any help?

you really need to inspect it before you buy anything. i know thats not what you want to do. need to measure the bores, check for out of round in the cylinders. you may need to have the block sleeved. at best you may get away with honing it, but thats alot of miles. it wont hurt to do it, no matter the shape of the cylinder walls, but you may not get anything out of all that work and money. also depends what the mains and rod surfaces look like on the crank, may need to be turned and buy oversize bearings.

theres too much vaiartion to give you a solid suggestion. if you can buy a bare block and rotating assembly you can build something offline, pull the head, send it out and put he block in the car while you wait for the head. i would also do a clutch/TOB while you're there.

My Honest Opinion, and i know you dont want to hear it, iscall the guy who offered you $5500 and sell it. Theres 100K mile SS/SCs around here for 6-7K

If i sell it im gonna have to buy a pos car. Id rather just put some money into this and call it good. If i re sleeve it can i just hone it myself and put pistons in or would i still need to take it to a machine shop? And do they need to have the pistons on hand?

Do a compression and leakdown test. For all you know you have a great working engine. Why screw with it?

Leakdown test, not a compression test. Leakdown test gives you more thorough results on what potentially could be a issue.

Yes.

Head work still wouldnt be a bad option. some port/polish work and some nice valves/springs and retainers before you do the cams. which will allow you to do your timing set, balancer chain/sprockets (or delete) and water pump as well. Not that you have to take the head off to do it, just gives you plenty of room to do so if its already off. If youre Staying SC'd then Head studs shouldn't be needed, if you plan on going turbo, wouldn't hurt while you're there. and be sure to buy a good head gasket, not sure whats best on the LSJ's, but don't just grab the cheapest one you can find

Timing chain and tensioner is not a bad idea either.

Yea i planned on doin sending my head in either way and just having them throw and the new springs for me. For right now im staying sc but turbo is still in the back of my head. That 3.5k price tag holds me back but ill prolly just get some arp headstuds to be safe

^ After leak down i would check this...Also I just bought my 06 stg 2 with 118km for $5500 so maybe selling it is an option to score something better ....It doesn't hurt to look if you haven't

My original idea was to sell mine, pay my lean and find a low mileage lnf but id have a huge payment every month and i wanna avoid that

When i send the head in i plan on replacing the whole timing setup just to be safe
