Is the Cobalt ss reliable??
So, take care if it, take it for what it is. Eco car, with giddy up. Leave it at that

Hello everyone,
I'm new to this forum. However, I find it quite helpful with lots and lots of information. I'm planning to buy a SC Cobalt ss. But I'm concerned with how reliable the car is. I read many reviews all over the Internet. Some are happy and some aren't. I really like the car but I DONT want any headache in the future. What I'm almost going to buy is a 2006 SC one with 32K miles on it. The car doesn't look abused. One more thing I moved to Canada recently and every one knows how it gets here in winter. Up to -22 F.
So, I would really appreciate your input. Should I buy it or should I look for another car?

To be quite honest with you, I regret it. I financed the super and would of had it almost paid off in the first year of owning it. Having it paid off I could have had myself an extra $500 a month with insurance savings. That's huge for me.
Anyway, the Super had all these normal noises and oddities that made me opt to go Turbo.
The noises were intermediate steering shaft rattle, fan noises, yadda yadda. To me coming from a car that was noiseless unless something was wrong I couldn't help but to think I got a Lemon, but I was wrong way wrong. These noises were normal. I'm experiencing some with my 2009 Turbocharged.
I can't comment on the SC reliablility because I only had it for 6 months, but the turbo on the other hand. It's been reliable other than the noises that I keep taking to get fixed at the dealership. The brakes score the rear rotors on the cobalt and I don't know how to fix it. The dealership said GM said that it's normal and theres nothing they can do.
Outside the fear of breaking all my plastic charge pipes and stuff like that it's pretty worry free.
Hope that helps.
I drive like a jack ass, and have beaten the **** out of my SS/TC since mile 7. 31K miles later I (27K of those tuned.) car has not had any problems other than the occasional blown 50.00 map sensor.
My 2006 SS/SC has GMS2 and bolt-ons.. The GMS2 was installed at 5,000 miles, and I drive the **** out of it daily. The only serious problem that I have encountered, outside of routine maintenance, which you should do anyway, was my intercooler pump, which actually just took a **** the other day. At 66,034 miles.
Pretty reliable if you ask me.
Pretty reliable if you ask me.
i have an 07 ss/sc. I love it.I do make sure all maint. is done on a scheduled basis. Most of the people that complain of issues are younger kids that put so many mods on that the rest of the stock parts cant keep up. I have not had one thing happen to my ss. ( nock on wood ) I do baby her though.
