Dealer screwing me?

So I have the TSB 2046855 issue where the P1174 code keeps coming on.

The fuel injectors fail frequently, and it's because the fuel injectors must be replaced along side with a PCM recalibration.

Dealer says neither of these are covered under powertrain warranty.

Wants $90 to bring it in to "diagnose" and then $140 for ECM recalibration. He says new injectors aren't covered.

Are ECM and injectors covered?

Injectors are not a wear item. Take your business elsewhere.

Called 3 dealers in DFW, all are claiming fuel injection is not part of the engine, NOT COVERED.

Got a name of a GM rep I can work with?

Maybe they make more money from non-warranty work.

I can see if you have aftermarket Injectors and an aftermarket Tune, with the exception of a GM Stage Kit for them to not warrenty it.

What are they smokeing???

Id like to see the engine run withOUT the injectors, if it's not part of the engine.

DING DING DING!

Dealers get paid "book cost" for warranty work, GM does NOT pay the posted shop rate. There is little (if any) profit in it.

I too am confused by the way they determine if something is covered under the powertrain warranty. Like insylem said, you show me how this thing will run without injectors........or a throttle body, or an intake manifold, or an ecm.......

No ****. It's a critical engine component.

Anyone know someone at a dealer which wants to earn a customer instead of kick them back?

They sure don't seem to want business. No wonder so many dealers have folded in DFW.

are you guys ******* kidding me? do you not read the warranties?

COVERED:
Engine
Cylinder head, block, timing gears, timing chain, timing cover, oil pump/oil pump housing, OHC carriers valve covers, oil pan, seals, gaskets, turbocharger, supercharger and all internal lubricated parts as well as manifolds, flywheel, water pump, harmonic balancer and engine mount. Timing belts are covered until the first scheduled maintenance interval.

NOT COVERED:
Exclusions: Excluded from the powertrain coverage are sensors, wiring, connectors, engine radiator, coolant hoses, coolant and heater core. Coverage on the engine cooling system begins at the inlet to the water pump and ends with the thermostat housing and/or outlet that attaches to the return hose. Also excluded are the entire pressurized fuel system (in-tank fuel pump, pressure lines, fuel rail(s), regulator, injectors and return line) as well as the Engine/Powertrain Control Module and/or module programming.

STATES right in the warranty, the ECM and injectors ARE NOT COVERED.

I know that they exclude all this stuff.....doesn't make it right imho. If you are going to warranty the powertrain, warranty the whole damn thing!

well the problem is, if you have dumb people using bad or wrong gas you can f the whole fuel system and the engine up. Injectors are cheap anyway. We are lucky they warranty the sc and tc in the powertrain.

Wrong. They make less money on warranty work than non-warranty work. GM approves the work AND so many hours in which to complete it or it comes out of the dealer's pocket. Typically they make slim to nothing on these because of the restrictions put on them by GM.

On the flip side, if you have to BUY parts and PAY for service not only do they get a cut from the cost of parts but also have more buffer to charge you additional time for the work to complete without restriction.
