My hood is out of alignment and I have this look... it looks effing terrible and people stop you on the road all the time asking if your hood is open.

also, instead of buying spacers, you could always just get in a fender bender to pop ur hood up. hell insurance will actually pay you for the mod

 

hes got the corvette hood spacers.

 

i'm not saying that i'm gonna love the look of it. but i wanna see for myself what it'll look like.

 

Why the **** does every single post on this site turn into your a ricer no ur a ricer thread just be like hey don't like it or id try doing this instead. The cobalt couple pages back doesn't look bad I wouldn't do it but I don't really have mods or ever take my car to the track. Let see the pics of how ur car looks.

 

every post turns in to a ricer burn fest because everyone car doesnt look the same and theres to many idiots on this board that think this car has some sort of muscle car praise or think because they bought a cobalt they are the new badass in town. hate to break the news to you a lot of you but the it will never have the repuation the pony cars had. its an american sport compact car that was made to compete against the japense sport compact hype. its just an american rice burner lol.

all in all....i think the hood prop mod looks like ****. does it work? yes it does. would i do it? no BUT if you wanna do it go right ahead. sooner or later you will put the hood back to stock because you will get tired of looking at how crappy it looks more then likely

ram air hood will not give the same affect.......your just rushing cool air into a hot engine bay coolin the outer surface apparently. to me your just forcing cool air in but the hot air isnt going anywhere there for making it a big waste of money....on the other hand if you have a ram air hood that has ducting and routes air to intake or something along those lines it will do well. this mod ultimately results in the cowl hood effect.

 

sorry but our cars look gay as **** with a hood with spacers. our hoods aren't flat like the honda hoods

 

Not to mention, when you are ramming air into the engine bay, you are trapping it under the hood, thus creating drag. Soon, the engine bay fills with air, and the flow nearly ceases, thus heating the air all over again. Its simple aerodynamics. This is why race cars run under body panels, to keep air from getting trapped in places, and making the car 'slipperier.' A ram air style hood would do the opposite. There is a reason why brake ducts and scoops are shaped a certain way, most of the time. Its to cut the air, and funnel it more efficiently.

As for the functionality of hood spacers... LOL. Get a job, then buy a life.

 

My cobalt is a beast.. and can take any car.. tell me what drag.. im there.. and will own...my car is going to be in fast and the furious 5.

So sick of ricers though, for realz.

Add in my intake I custom made out of a stock civic si manifold.. (aka vtec) 30hp
Sub.. 10hp.
exhaust.. also custom.. 45hp or close. prob lookn at 70.
high rise gives me TQ like crazy.

Im srsly prob hittn 400hp.. and my engine has a boost leak..

you serious? When was the last time you checked the ricepower tables? Stripes are 55, sub is 12, honda intake is 23, exhaust is 67, and that high rise is the kicker....its addin AT MINIMUM 88wtq.

I'm assuming you're tuned for the new vtec air filter, right? If not, you're lookin at mad serious gains if you hook up HPhondatalstuner98 and get ur fueling air intake dialed in. Since ur boosted tho, make sure you retard timing at least 30* and go aggressive!!

 

This last page made me lawls, alot. The hood spacers look dumb. If you do it, only do it on the track. No need to daily drive with it. If you're running so hard you need to worry about 10 degrees, then theres something wrong with the way you drive. And yes, it looks like it was in a front end wreck.

Thats some bs too, you dont need a tune for the filter, it actually would make me lose horsepower, a tune would tune the tec out, and leave me with a V. Did you ever own a civic?.. I did.. so.. i know what im talkn about..

 

thats waaay too much. mine is subtle and tasteful. it's a jdm style guys, don't over do it.

 

Dude you were doing so well. I agreed at everything you replied to me about, i wouldnt spend 500 on a POS hood they make for these cars either, Only hood i like is the RK sport G5 GT hood really. But then you said you like this mod to set you apart from every other cobalt, which means this isnt just a track day thing. This is a "Hey look at me sitting in the walmart parking lot with my hood all fucked up cause i want to be different!" That is rice. Or whatever rice gets thrown around so much that i dont even want to say it, its not rice, but its once again, fuckign stupid. You want to be "Different" from other cobalts by misaligning your hood and just driving around the streets like that. Gay.
