i never had experience of having to slam on the brakes in traffic to avoid hitting things.
Never had to choose between killing kids beside the road, t-boning a car, going into oncoming traffic, or into a ditch and rolling the car.
I don't think anyone has, until they have a wreck or close call.
They're the same thing, just one you get called a ******* for.
I have experience now, so don't say i don't, i had the wreck, paid my ****, learned my lesson, so quit talking smack.

First car was 86 tbird with no a/c no abs nothing. Never had an accident but man I did some stupid **** in it. I only paid insurance on it though. Then got a 04 ranger with rear wheel Abs and since I was making both truck payment and insurance payment I was adult about it and really didnt do anything stupid with it. I did power mods for SPEED! Ill freely admit if someone gives me a look Ill race their ass up to 60 on a 45. I am now 21 and I feel I know Mesa Arizona (being ive lived here my whole life in the same house) I know what street have traffic and side streets etc etc. Being with my cobalt SS/SC there is no way in hell I should have a car with that power at 16. No kid should have a boosted car or anything that will have that kind of get up and go.

At 16 you honestly know **** about driving. You LACK experience. I dont care what any 15-16 year old says about driving, Driving on the street is very dangerous and at 16 you wont learn until you EXPERIENCE MORE. You say you are experienced now, thats BS. Sure you might have a better idea of what to do, but doing something once doesnt make you john force.

Live and learn, then when you hit 20ish and insurance goes down, then get a faster car thats fun.

i had the choice between getting rear ended by a semi (probably death).. tboning a ford F150, then probably getting hit by the semi (still death)... or going off roading (******* up my car....)

i chose the 3rd one .... busted out my fog lights and cracked my bumper but i'm alive and the rest of my car was fine but i knew how to control my car enough to not hit something... it was snowing and the stock hancocks on my car blew... so knowing how to control the car is everything.. ( i probably could've straightened the car out but it would've been dangerous and more swerving, recovering and turning the other direction to go off road and not go into a 360 spin was from controlling the car... )

From the way you have talked you didn't learn anything out of this accident . You are blaming your car , and think that a more powerful car with better brakes is the answer. I'm not talking **** , just stating the obvious . Your attitude about this has been at best arrogant, the statements you make to people who are just telling you the honest truth show this .

Some kids are rather inconsiderate of what they have. I would much rather drive my slow cobalt, then have the cars half my friends drive. Rusted out Buick Skylarks, Geo Storms, etc. etc.
this is so true one of my friends have an audi and he tryis to hate on my car and tryies and make fun of me tellin me i could have gottin some used bmw or somthin and i tell him id rather drive this brand new cobalt than som old used POS

When I was 16 I was happy as hell to have a POS to get me from A2B + it's hard to get laid on a bike.

Thanks for listening to us. There are some of us that are just trying to look out for you and not beat you into the ground. Make her look like you want her to, and we can boost you up for having a fly car instead.

So. I'll probably be fixing the balt and selling it.

A '04 SRT-4 is not only faster, and with better ******* brakes, it's only 200/Mo with a clean record.
it'll be used, but i don't care, i can't pay 300/MO on insurance on a car that i don't even like that's not even fast.
This is why the members of this particular forum are disgusted by you. I myself was given my 5spd LS by my single mother who makes less than 30k, 5 kids, and in the great state of New Jersey. Sure it wasn't a rocket, didn't have the looks of an SS, nor the only power it had was in the XM radio unit. A concept of the dollar by the young generation has faded. The fact you said "great cause i was saving for another car" probably disgusts me and many others.

"I'm 16 years old and the parents just left me out in the cold bascially" It's all about growing up, suck it in.

"making me pay insurance now" do your parents pay for everything? Goddamn...

Unless you were driving on a slush and ice covered road there is no excuse for your accident, Unless the other person did an illegal maneuver. Don't be like the "cool" crowd. Use caution on the streets, and never ease into something you know is wrong.

Having an accident on your new record IS NOT GOING TO BE CHEAP. Once the insurance company pulls up your accident, your done.

i was given a hand me-down car at 16. It was a 1998 Ford Mustang GT Fully Loaded Convertible. Triple White model=white leather, white paint, white convt. top. i put about $3,000 in mods and threw a rod bearing. sold it for $1,700, all i could get cause it needed a rebuild. i know what it is to have to pay for repairs, something broke on that car every month. she was still sexy though and a vag magnet

i am a lot happier with the cobalt though

If you had 90 ft to skid why did you slam on your breaks? you had enough room to pump your breaks.
I have an ls cobalt and I'm 18.
I'm a girl, I talk on the cellphone when i drive, i text when i drive, i blast music and sing when i drive, i smoke when i drive, i dig in my purse when i drive, i lean down and grab things under my seat when i drive, I eat when i drive, i check myself in the mirror when i drive, i have indebth conversations when i drive.

never had an accident.
I'm ALWAYS aware of what cars are around me, my escape route if something were to happen, the traffic patterns etc.
I took a drivers ed class, but my teacher was a perv and didnt teach me crap.
I learned this out of my common sense that.. "hey if this person slams on his breaks, where the hell do i go? oh well if i slow down just a tad bit i can swerve to the right!"

beleive me I've been driving since the day i turned 16. its all about experience. and only till you get older will you realize this.
only 2 years later and im calling myself sooooo unexperienced when i was 16.
seriously right now i know you think you are such a good driver. but you will only know what everyone is talking about when you get older and have more experience.
a few accidents dont just change your experience over night.

I'm not trying to bash on you right now.
but oddly enough my 21 year old friend who is completely obsessed with srt-4's is still debating on getting one just because he doesnt know if hes ready for that kind of power. he drives a neon sxt right now and hes been modding it slowly to get used to what its like to get some power.
he test drove this extremely decked out and modded out srt-4 and said i love it to death no doubt but its too much power for me right now.

dont risk it seriously.
stick with the cobalt.
get used to driving.
and once you get older, you work for what you get, you have experience, and you waited long enough.
you will apreciate something like that alot more.

right now getting a boosted or turbo car is throwing too much power under your feet.

stick with the balt man

Sorry I just had to speak up. You are one to talk about good driving. Almost all of the things you mentioned in your post are reasons that alot of accidents happen. (and no I am not talking about you being a girl!) PLEASE rethink about what you are doing while driving. That split second you rummage through your purse, or reach under the seat, check your makeup in the mirror, anything can happen. You text while drive? Does your state have any cell phone laws? In NY, you can get a ticket (and a fine I believe) for talking on your cell or texting while driving. I do not wish harm to anyone, but the way you drive the odds are not in your favor.

I'm not trying to bash you either, but wait even longer than 2 years. When you are in your 30's you will look back at how bad your driving habits were when you were 18 with those whole 2 years of driving experience and wonder how you survived. Take that from someone who has been driving longer than you have been alive. (OMG that made me feel old.)

ha you will have an accident. You are way too confident in your ability. I dont care who you are if you are doing all that **** while driving you will eventually get in an accident. Someone is going to turn out in front of you out of a parking lot and not accelerate too quickly and you will slam into them. texting + driving = most irresponsible thing ever.
