That is the correct one. I bought mine from the same people and they are pretty fast with shipping. That filter fits so well that you almost don't need a clamp.

all I can say is "HOLY CRAP BATMAN".... on my test run, I laid the ole lead foot and instantly .... damn that sound sweet
everyone I drove past had to look when they heard the whine...I guess some peeps heard me coming cause when I came around the corner they were all looking at the BALT with that WTF look

best bang for the buck mod

Bought Cheap Air Filter Kit

Talk about turning peoples heads, the car sounds like a mini from Italian Job
Butt dyno says def more power, car is chiping and screetching everywhere now

Enjoy:
Now the fun starts, Basically you need to get your stock airbox our of the car, it is located DS in front of the wheel, you have to remove 2 push pins, and 7-8 7mm screws and then you can bend back the splash guard. Now this must be done after removing the DS front wheel.
Once the splash guard is moved then you go in and remove 3 nuts holding the airbox on and loosen the upper clamp in the engine bay where the intake mates to the TB adaptor pipe.

Disconnect the MAF line(1 electricl connector) and then you take your time removing the box(will take some twists and contortions) you also have to pop 1 harness grommet retainer but this is simple)

Installing and measuring, once it is out and you have the air filter(BTW the filter is a spectre Universal pt number 8138) this filter has adaptor rings to mate it to 3", 3.5" or 4", you will use all adaptors to mate it to the 3.15"stock opening, here is the only real tricky part, you need to put the 3" adaptor on the stock box(the pic below shows the 3" adaptor already on), trim the outer lip off a little since the stock lip is slightly larger than 3" with an xacto knife then the rest of the filter adaptors slide on no problem

Filter with adaptor rings

Installed Filter, you drill one small hole even with the location of the clamp I used a 1/4" bit and a slim flathead to get in there, and with a flash light in the snorkel for light the clamp shows up fine, once tight it is reversal of removal! Enjoy!
(HOLE LOCATION)

Installed Filter 2

Finished and installed back in the car

Installed ! Now the fun can start! Great thing is only mod to the air box was 1 small hole drilled in the funnel for screwdriver access

I have a video with sound but have not had a chance to upload it, tomorrow.. it is loud

EDIT:Aww heck here it is

right click and save as

SS INTAKE VIDEO AVI

this is TOTALLY different than ebay intakes man. There is NO CEL with this mod EVER

UNLESS you use an OILED filter.

If you use a dry filter, you will NOT get a CEL

So, how much whine do you guys hear when you are driving on the highway (not getting on it, just driving at speed)? I don't mind a little more sound but I really am not a big fan of hearing a constant droning sound on longer trips.

It only whines at high boost / high engine load

None on the highway unless I downshift and punch it hard

So, nothing noticeable at all?

Man, I must be getting old when I'm actually worried about excess noise on long drives... When I had my '88 Mustang 5.0L you couldn't hear yourself think most of the time and now I'm worried about a little blower whine.

Oh well, this makes me happy none the less.

Thanks, man.

I've got an oiled filter on there and haven't had any problems.

barely noticeable in 3rd gear and up w/ the radio on! It is only really noticeable in 1st and 2nd on boost only

great low buck mod

Good to hear - that means you know how to oil it properly - those who dont and get oil on the MAF will get a CEL

I didn't oil my filter what-so-ever.... apparently it had too much oil on it from the factory
CED said when I do clean the filter... don't oil it and it will be just fine

I JUST received my 2.2/2.4 filter from CED (GM just started shipping them out mid-april) as I was walking to the house from my car. Thanks UPS.

This is a non-oiled filter.

I will be test fitting it this weekend and hopefully pulling a couple dyno runs to record the difference. Hopefully the answer to the "does GM offer a CAI for the SS S/C?" question will change soon.

I know it wont be a 100% real CAI, but it will be the stock GM intake with a filter that says GM Performance Parts on it. thats good enough for me)

edit: first things first. lets hope it fits. :\

edit x2: I just measured the filter against the specs for the AEM Dryflow (5" long, 3.25" opening), and it matches those specs perfectly if I've measured it accurately.

i did this mod a few months ago, i just got the AEM dryflow and it fit perfect, no cels, every once in a blue moon the CEL will come on but it goes away by the end of the same day (happens once every 3 months for one day) and when i did this it was a HUGE difference in whine, 2 and 3 and it starts fading in 4 due to wind, so i dont know what crap you guys got but was running with a buds eclipse and he said all he could hear was this massive whine when i passed him and he had all his windows closed, plus i get alot of looks when i punch it

bojan,

Looks pretty cool, but what size of filter are you using (i.e. what is the diameter of the inlet attachment)? The only concern that I would have with not having a complete seal at the top of the filter is that you could still get crap in there.

By crap, I just mean fine dust.

K&N Filter....the one that they sell for this car E-0777

and the filter is all the way up so its sealed .... the metal thats under the filter is extreamly tight so the filter should not be moving no where i hope
