Changed mine a few days ago. Bought the metal 3/8" tool at autozone but it was too thick and wouldn't fit in the fuel filter so went back and bought the plastic ones pictured in this thread. Worked great, swapped the the old one out and threw the new one in like 2minutes after getting the right tool. Really easy 5 minute job after you get your car all jacked up and situated.

i think a note should be made that when inserting the 3/8" quick disconnect tool, you should push back on the filter first to get the tool in, and then pull out. I was struggling with this thing for a half hour having never worked on quick disconnects before, finally i stumbled upon one random ass post that said "oh yeh you have to push back on the filter first and pull the filter off with the quick disconnect." went back under the car and the damn thing popped right off. lol

I tried using the plastic ones and they are shitty. They make the metal kind for gm cars if you look on the back of the pack. That's what I used btw

I went to start doing this and found that My car is missing the bolt you have circled in yellow (the only bolt). Would anyone be able to give me a quick response with the sizeof the bolt and nut (if there is one), so I could go pick one up at the hardware store today?

Thanks!

Realized earlier today I completely forgot about my fuel filter. Car kind of running crappy, sputtering while idling sometimes, I kind of figured it had to do with my other crappy problem (boost leak). I've owned it for 15k miles now on top of however many miles the previous owner had on this filter.

Boost leak throwing codes and running crappy, driving all over the damn road and shuddering and clunking over bumps the size of pebbles due to almost certainly totally shot CAB's, loud as hell whining noise from the engine bay sounds like a dying alternator or other pulley item, blower fan sounds like a bearing is about to explode (lovely, I have to cut it open to replace it? wow), and my brakes are only using 70% of the discs for whatever reason I haven't had time to even glance at.

Been one of those months but hey, I'll get that fuel filter in tonight (and spray down my control arm bolts with PB blaster)

Sorry the pictures aren't working but my webserver that was hosting the pictures died. In its defense it was at least 10 years old. I am working on getting a new webserver up and once I do the pictures will show up once again!

Im 90% sure if you google "cobalt ss fuel filter change" and go to images there are pics with yellow, green, red and blue circles showing what to do. Thats what i used the first time. Its really simple once i figure out how to get the damn thing off with the tool.
