I would like to know how to mount one on the rear with that lip as well. That lip looks even better with dual exhuast but i'm too cheap to pay a shop 400 bucks to put a y pipe and two mufflers and two tips.

Personally? If I got these, I would just leave the hook part off, leave it in my car with the proper wrench to tighten it, when/if I need to tow my car, then I just put it on.

Because I would have the same concern. I wouldn't want it flapping around while I'm accelerating/shifting.

That's just me. Haha.

Is there an actual reason people leave that floppy end on there all the time? Maybe I'm missing something?

Because in a crash that little tube of metal is more likely to get smashed flat than if it has the pin already in it.

Just keep the wrench in your car and make the bolt tight so it can't flop. Loosen it when you need it.

Do you really need to ask why they leave it on? Same reason they get them in cool colors ......because they look neat

That makes sense. But at the same time, If that part is bent, chances are the rest of the car is in pretty bad shape too. I guess it makes it easier to pull it out of a ditch or something. I guess i was thinking more if something goes wrong on the track and you need a tow, chances are you could probably just put it on when you need it.

That happened to me when my shifter roll pin went, I needed a tow. One of those hooks would have been handy.

I have that rear lip and a y with dual exhaust looks real neat and didn't cost me $400 to install

I ended up removing the rear bumper and crash beam just made it so much easier and I know it was done right then.

I just realized you drill the holes all the way through the bar. I drilled a hole on one side and tried to put the bolt through that way.

you buy hooks from us you get a detailed how to. Not sure how it is complicated. It doesnt require bumper removal. It does really take a good unibit otherwise a very good drill bit. The bumper metal is very strong and hard. I use one existing hole at the front on Cobalts and always install offset to the curb side for safety when hooking up. I had a guy I knew well, he was killed by a passing car when his race car trailer got a flat tire drivers side, and he was changing it on the shoulder....
