I think he means the metal ram air part under the hood he'll paint black.

OK, that's what I wasn't sure if he meant the Ram Air he bought or the hood itself...confused me the way it's worded...

no, the ram air kit, which bolts to the bottom/underside of the hood will be painted black. The hood is staying PCP.

At first, I was expecting it to be a Vette.....also, is that a V8? What's the limit for RPM's? It must be hitting 8-10k. The sound reminds me of an open wheel racer like Formula 1 or something similar.

Not too bad of a deal for the tires...I have someone coming from AV on Saturday to look at my MSR 045's...If he's willing to give me the full asking price ($400), then I'll only be losing $50 on them...I need the money to finish other things on my car first...besides, I have nice, new tires on my steelies and I can't afford tires for those things right now. It should give me enough to get my exhaust completed....wish I could get a tune as well, but that can wait for a month or two if need be.

So who else here uses a radar detector? If you use one, what brand/model do you have?

I was kind of looking at them yesterday and I know a lot of people recommend the Valentine One. Then I also hear a lot about the Passport models like the 8500 x50, the 9500i and 9500ix (which looks really cool, but it's $500).

I don't know that I will be buying one, but I want to look into them.

Do they come with hardwire kits or do you have to pay extra for that? Which ones would be best for MN? Do many cities/counties use laser here? Is there even any point in laser detection (I heard that by the time it registers laser, you've already been hit with it).

Sorry if any of the questions are dumb...I really know very little about them...I just know you get what you pay for and anything under $200 probably doesn't work that well.

why because you like it when they crash?

$50 isnt enough to make me buy them when I still have tread on the stockers....

Jeff has a passport 8500 x50. Excellent unit for cheap.

I have read multiple reviews of the v1 and I still dont understand why everyone is so horny about them. They dont actually do very well. They have less range than the 9500i/xi and the Bell STi and the 9500i/xi has the least amount of false alarms. 9500i/xi also has the gps built in features. The only thing the v1 has is the arrows, but who cares about that? even the reviewers said they can throw false directions as radar bounces off all sorts of stuff and when the **** do you want or have time to figure out which direction its coming from when all you should be doing is slowing down until the threat is over. the arrows imo are a freaking gimmick. If you drive with common sense and eyes scanning ahead you will know yourself where the threat is.

Two of my tires are nearly bald so $50 is enough for me.

well you are already in the market for tires, so yes it would be. I have like 97% tread on all tires.
