well i figured i'd fill some of you guys in who care to hear but i've got the repair cost for my car from 10 grand down to 6 grand and i have a few ideas to maybe get it lower. orderin the engine today after i get the money from the loan from ced (thanks for the heads up on fb for that jeff) and hopefully i'll have my car back next week.
chevy let me keep the free 2010 malibu loaner they gave me which is awesome cuz they specifically use that car for the larger high paying customers and i was only supposed to have it til yesterday since warranty isn't coverin anything.
keepin the core of the old engine and rebuilding it. not sure yet if i'll return it to stock and sell it for profit or if i'll do some mods and keep it for myself but either way i'm hangin on to it for the time being.
sounds like i'll still be hittin up the ced meet then in june with you guys!

Devin,
Sucks to hear you have to pay out of pocket, so did you use GM oil filters? The only good thing now is that you will have a new engine and that will add lots of life to your SS. If you really want you could either build that spare block and tvs it later or maybe sell it but honestly I dont think they sell used like that for more than a few hundred but you'd have to research that.

Were you able to talk to Tom at CED Dev? ...sounds like he helped you out.
How long does the dealer think it'll take to get the car rebuilt back up?
This hole situation just sounds crazy... In the end I hope things get all straightened out and that you dont have to pay that much.

yeah, a spare block on hand doesn't sound like a bad move. i think i'll do that and buy a cam and some diamond forged pistons and what not for it and build it up
sounds like it's only 18 hours of labor, they're givin it to me at reduced labor rate and 16 hours of work so hopefully next week but that depends on when i get the new block
i talked to tom and he's gettin the block to me for a little over $3100 shipped to chevy so he was helpful for sure and that includes the core cost to keep my current block.
i was approved for the loan yesterday but they're takin their sweet time gettin the paperwork pushed through so i haven't ordered the block yet

good call on the engine mount too p. i'll look into that. maybe i'll toss tommy a couple bucks a month to store it in there with his car

should be able to use that to help me build a sweet engine. of course i'll do more yet but that's a good chunk of info right from the gm performance division

Since I'm lazy, can anybody recommend any shops (exhaust or other) that will be able to install my exhaust setup for a reasonable price? Preferably around $150 at most.
I'm checking with a couple local exhaust shops...one only deals with cat-backs, they won't touch headers. Sent emails to a couple others. Elite Autosports in Blaine quoted me somewhere around the $200 mark which is fine depending on if I can get it done cheaper or not. If not, I'll get a hold of them and set something up.

mike - cant you install your own headers? I think you can just get a exhaust coupler to install the SC exhaust, not big deal.
hell ya the GMPP build book! If I had it, Id probably do the build book and a gmstage 3. But if you go aftermarket you could tune for e85 and make globs of power.
Harbor freight has engine stands for like $49 for a 1000lbs and 99 for 2000lbs. deff a good way to store or hold a engine.

I'm sure I can, just lazy as hell...we'll see...since I'm off the 22nd-26th, maybe I'll just make a go at it myself and get it done one section at a time.
We'll see how long it takes me in court the 22nd along with how long it takes to install the new suspension stuff (assuming I have it all in hand by then...which I should).
Where can I get spring bolts from for the header/dp?
