Official 2009 Photography Thread
sick06 - the fist two are great!! the third one is awesome too i just don't like the fingers that you can just barely see at the bottom of the photo.
SKCobalt - Very nice picture. I wish the trees weren't so cluttered covering the bottom portion of the building. But hey what are you gonna do right? haha

EDIT: I think I should add that this was manually focused by taking multiple shots to get where i needed to stand right... along with focusing.. i dont have a chord...
I'm taking a media/computer course and we learn about photography, so I really am starting to get into it. Here's a couple I took for class.
And i'm also looking into getting a Canon Rebel (XS or XSi) once I can fork up the money.

My girlfriend and I are both photographers. We will be doing weddings this year so it will turn into a side career
SKCobalt - I like that one more! And adapters will give you the effect but not nearly the quality as an actual lens. You get what you pay for.
David - those pictures make me want to get rid of my lights and get the full Elinchrom kit.
1. man that camera has (insert large number of megapixels) it must be alot better than that other one that only had (insert smaller number of pixels). say the 50d or 5d MK II vs a 1dmkIII
2. man I have a canon 1d MK III I can shoot awesome photos!
Maybe this is why I can't get anything to focus with my wide angle adapter I just got. I gotta check that out.
for example my 85 1.8 wide open- the widest it can go is 1.8 while the smallest it can go is 22.
to get more in focus you would want a bigger number..
I do understand that, but what I'm saying is I have my lens on auto focus, and when I find a subkect to shoot the camera tries to focus, but the image just doesn't come into focus and then it wont take the picture.
With my plans for what I want to do in photography the cameras I want serve a purpose. Trust me I know the camera doesn't make the pictures. One of the guys I work with shot/shoots for the AP and has a 20D and 1D mk I. Both of which are not top of the line cameras by any means.
By they are you talking about me?? Because I surely hope you aren't.

Just in general people think the expensive toys will make them better.
i know, I was only shooting on f/11 coulda cranked it up a little more
I admit I have a soft spot for the D40, probably because its so tiny I could stash it in my bag as a backup, and they are dirt cheap these days. The only things keeping me from buying one are the minimum 200 ISO, the lack of autobracketing and it won't use the infrared release.
most likely because there isnt alot of contrast for the camera to pick up on it... try and give me a sample in bright day light
Eh, that's not such a deal breaker anymore, unless you already have a stash of older AF (not AFS) lenses or you just like picking up older lenses for cheap. They still meter fine on the D40. Its been a long time since they introduced a new lens that wasn't AFS.

However I would like to let you know that you can use the wireless infared remote with the D40. I'm pretty sure that's what you meant by infared release.
