It's about time for an UPDATE I think...

Lots of little things have happened since my last post.

I have found out that I am moving to Ottawa this spring... 1200 Km to Ottawa.

The 944 has to be able to Run by July 06 so I have to put the Paint on hold.

The original idea was to have the engine compartment the same color as the car and that was going to be done the same time the car was painted. Now I am in a rush a bit and I have found a solution that works for me as well.

I bought 100 Sq, Feet of B-Quiet Aluminum coated engine bay noise killer. It's Sticky on one side and aluminum on the other. When heated it is easily applied to the firewall with a roller and looks stellar.

So the entire engine bay will get lined with this material. That gives me the freedom to paint the car without having to take out the motor again once we arrive in Ottawa.

Here are some pictures of the Deadliner.

I got the badly abused center panel of the stock Recaro seats recovered. The center panel used to be Super 1980 cool ORANGE, but I think that the Black Looks super.

So You all remember the headlight conversion...

I installed two Hyper White LED bulbs in each as my DRL..

This is also finished..

The Driving Light Holes were removed, backed by fiberglass and filled level with bondo..

First day of March Break.

I started with the engine bay.

The Rear part of the firewall is completely covered where the heater fans used to be. The Battery is installed again and once the firewall gasket is back, it will look great and be sealed. I have to return the wiper assembley later as it was removed to apply the Dynamat.

I will tackle the rest of the bay tomorow and post up pictures.

I picked up 4L of Contact cement to redo the headliner.

I need the Left kick panel with the Hood Pop lever.. Anyone got one for sale?

This might make the entire Engine Bay Idea a bit clearer. It's far from finished, I am getting the first layer on and then I have a second roll to make it stronger in places and cover up some stuff to make it look nicer.

Started major work on the interior. The Headliner is being replaced and starting from the front to the rear it got half done but then it started to be too cold to continue. Tomorow is supposed to suck so later for pictures..

Today I bid on an won a 944 S2 clutch as the original one that cam off my 944 was down to the rivets. Out on a limb a bit, the S2 clutch is diferent looking but I think that it will be compatible with the stock Flywheel and pressure plate that I have. The deal was too good to pass up..

E-Bay Link

I think for $60.00 it's worth it..

Up for bid is a clutch disk out of a 1989 S2. It is in good condition. It has pleanty of meat left on the disk. It was used less than 1000 miles. Shipping will be $15 in the continental USA. I DO NOT ship outside the US or to APO's

Here is a shot of the work.
You can get a feel for just how low and long this car really is.

The front frame is sitting over 3" Higher than normal because the motor etc... is not installed.
SEX ON WHEELS

Can't wait till it's done. It's a bit cold today so not much going on in 944 Land.

What great weather to work outside!

Today I finished the headliner. The old one simply sucked and was ripped to ****. I used the same material that was used to recover the seats. I think it looks great, All the edges are covered and the material is thight and not coming down any time soon.

Here are some Shots..

I got the last of the heavy cracked and useless "Factory Noise Killer" off the inside of the car and replaced it with the same light weight aluminium that I have been doing the engine bay with. The Old stuff was 20 Years old and had split all over so it was useless and heavy. Not a good combination.

I'll post up some pictures of the finished product as I get them..

Here is the bare metal.

Looking good. Still wish I wasn't so far away so I could see it in person when done.

Here's an idea. Why don't you move to Arizona so you don't have to worry about the cold weather.

Holy Crap,

My 10 Min job turned into a 3 Hour PITA.

Didn't really clean off the toothed driveshaft in the torque tube as well as I should have and the clutch didn't go on the shaft without alot of "Help"

Basically, it's all in there now and Pete (P7X) and I tested to make sure that it's all working fine.

1st gear and I manually rotated the crank, the car moved a bit
4th gear and I manually rotated the crank, the car moved a lot.

PERFECT!

Today, I'm going to start to put the parts on like a big German Lego set.

Peace!

Updated picture of the Weekends work.

There are some Misc bolts holding stuff together that are the wrong length on the Fuelrail etc, and most of the sensors have to be hooked in but the hard part is done.

I admire you hard work and craftsmanship Brian. That definately looks like "When you open a jewelry box, and you see the jewel inside." -- Chip Foose
