The "steel" the headers are made from is mild steel. The collectors may be steel or aluminized steel depending on what we have available to form them from. Yes, they will rust without a coating. However, we use 14 gage (.083) wall thick tubing. I can not stress enough the benefit of ceramic coating.
We can build the headers in 304 stainless steel but we do not have any header flanges in 304 available. To justify ordering a batch we would need a minimum of 20 stainless header orders. Otherwise individual stainless flanges will cost roughly $75.00 each. Even with the header being stainless, the ball/flange collar will still be mild steel. But we would have it ceramic coated to go with the stainless header.

As a matter of fact, she does. That's why I have the final say.

That is correct, $155.00 for coating. of 1,000 plus sets of headers we have shipped to the 94 - 96 B & D body owners, roughly 10 sets have been shipped without ceramic coating. I highly suggest the ceramic coating. Not just for our header but for ANY and ALL headers available for these cars. Can you run with raw steel or paint? Sure you can. Would I personally? Not a chance... Take it for what it's worth.

IT IS NOT A RUST INHIBITOR! But it does help with it, and it also looks great. Does that help!?
P.S. to everyone: although I do come with keys to the shop and the car...who says you'll be driving!

You will benefit from it a couple of ways. First off and most importantly, it keep the heat in the tubes (where it should be) and not radiating out under your hood. You can comfortably hold your hand an inch from the tubes and be fine. It keeps the surrounding elements safe (your engines are a bit tight) and the heat being pushed out the exhaust actually gives you a few extra hp.

We have 14 orders.
We have not assembled a new TRI-Y header yet. We should be able to get one built next week. The down-pipe will be the same one used for the 4 into 1 design header. A TRI-Y header is typically better for torque and power up to 5500 rpm. Above that, a 4 into 1 header is best.
June 27th ends the GP.
Thanks.

Anyone in this GB from a state that requires an emissions inspection? I live in PA, and it is a requirement to get a visual check for a car and smog inspection I do believe. What is everyone's thoughts as far as buying the header/dp with and without a cat? I'm pretty positive I would not be able to pass inspection without the cat in. I am not worried about the CEL as my tune already got rid of it. I really think this product looks good and the GB is priced extremely nice, I just don't want to have to shell out another $100+ dollars for the cat... Especially since for about the same price as the Clear Image header/dp/cat, I can get a header/dp/cat made out of stainless from elsewhere... Any way this can be made with a cheaper Magnaflow cat? Any suggestions?
