Just a quick little update, finally had a littlebit of open roads tonight, (very little), but I was surprised. It feels way better then I thought it would. No idea where it's limits are yet but it's already got me more confident then before.

On the other hand, not sure if its all from the added weight, everything weighs more, or that I have been driving a little harder to make up for the feeling of the loss of power but I'm down from 28/29 mpg down to 25.

Good to know! Maybe because the sc rims are bigger than the stock ls ones the computer is reading the data wrong? your speedometer is probably off a few mph as well.

On a side note, I've got sc hubs coming to me soon and I'm getting them redrilled to the 5x114.3 bolt pattern, So hopefully I'll have a 5x114plus an lsj brake swap done within the month

Sweet man, I checked the tires with an online tire calculator it told me to use 225/35 18 as a direct replacement size but one, I was mounting the tires, 35 profiles are a bitch, two as you know PA has some potholes I don't feel like bending the crap out of rims so I went with 225/40. Only supposed to be like 1% off or something. But even on the turnpike keeping up with traffic it seems ok. I haven't been able to really check it yet.

I would have done the 5x114 thing but I felt it was just to much of a hassle to get rotors drilled every time I needed them.

Oh and I read on here somewhere that the 4 lug and 5 lug abs rings have different tooth counts so if you have abs it will no longer work. Keep that in mind people!

Powell sells a kit but I didn't change to rear disk. I just changed from 4 lug drum to 5 lug drum.

Brags I love the wheels

Just having to get rotors redrilled every time you need rotors. On the up side you have more wheel options. That's all I know of.

Interesting, I thought they were all the same, just that if you don't have ABS, it wont matter if you get new hubs with ABS. You just have to leave the sensor disconnected, or cut it off. I hope this isn't so because I have no ABS and the hubs I bought do unless you are just referring to the ABS sensors (which i hope you are) lol

Yeah, that's what I did just cut the front leads off I have no abs. But there's a thread around somewhere a guy with an hhr went from the 5 lug to 4 lug for wheel options and his abs no longer worked. Someone said it was because the tooth count was different so if you have a s jus keep in mind it may not work after.

Whew! Sounds good to me man! I read that in another thread, that some lsj/lnfs have a different voltage for the ABS, so when someone swapped LSJ hubs on their LNF they had a CEL on because the voltage was reading wrong from the sensor.

So I swapped over to LSJ front calipers and 5 lug rear drums saturday and also to a 5x114 bolt pattern. What do You guys think?

Next in line is some lowering springs to get rid of some of that wheel gap.

Good deal, by anychance you didn't end up with a highway speed raking vibration in the rear did you? I changed the shoes and still got it. Haven't had time to recheck my wheel balance yet tho.

Pffff part numbers, no idea. I got all my hubs threw parts at work. I got a steel of a deal on the wheels, tires, and front calipers. Cost me about $1100 all said and done but I only spent 400 for tires, wheels, and the calipers.

Any parts store can get you the parts. Just tell them what your looking for, fronts off a cobalt ss/sc and rears off like an 09 five bolt ls.

Not really, I definitely need an alignment and the lower profile tires make more road noise than my other ones but no vibrations in the rear.

I bought the LSJ calipers off here, the rear drums off ebay, the front pads/rotors from the auto store, and the LSJ hubs off ebay as well (from dearborn axle, I have bought hubs from them in the past and they work great). All these parts cost me a little over $500. The wheels I have had for years from my previous car cost me $900 used at the time from my sister's fiance.
