I was speaking of a Stage 2 SS/SC not a stock one.

And like I said before the Mach1 is a very over-ego'd machine, in stock form they are mid to high 13 second cars.

The DOHC deffinatly pulls harder than the SOHC 4.6 but there top end is still terrible. I had a couple LS1's so I have had my share of Mach1 races.

Keep in mind the 12 second Mach1's are running 4.10 gears & slicks/DR's.

Umm... DOHC 4.6 = 4-valve

Ultimately, a Mach 1 is a tenth or 2 slower than an LS1-Fbody all else being equal. Either way, a decent driver should be in the mid-high 13's, with good drivers running low 13's and crappy ones runnning 14's. Fact is, unless you're modded, you're gonna get demolished no matter how well you can drive, unless the Mach driver sucks. The fastest stock Cobalts are runnning low 14's. Even a crappy Mach 1 driver should manage that.

Modded changes everything of course.

I think we all established that Stock vs Stock the SS/SC will lose, that was about 15 replies ago.

As for a Stage 2 SS/SC vs Mach1 from a roll it's the SS/SC from a dig it's a drivers race.

the mach 1 runs low 13's stock if the driver is good...sooo if you are stage 2 it's a MAYBE. if he is modded i'd have to say it's gonna be a no. But why not try it. just have some fun and be a good sport about it.

it depends on the driver of the car but then again theres nothin to do but go for it, i think the only way you will win is wit intense stage 3 lol. and even then hell rape u off the line but if u do catch up it will be insecond gear and you mite stay even, and thats if he stock. if hes modded, go home haha

Stage 2 SS/SC + Exhaust vs Bone Stock Mach 1

I'm not here to start ****, but a stage 2 SS/SC and a stock Mach 1 are not a driver's race. Period.

Thanks opening a dead thread! STG2 Cobalts run 13.9s at best, a Mach 1 is easily a 13.5 second car. Anyone who knows anything should know the outcome. Thanks for enlightening us though!

The problem with comparing cars based solely on 1/4 ET is that you don't know if the ET reflects the car making the most efficient use of its power. A better 1/4 comparison is trap speed. In the case of the Mach 1, they can lay down good 1/4 ET's because the car makes efficient use of its power from a standing start. The 1/4 ET indicates that a stock Mach 1 is comparable to a stock LS2 GTO, and at a drag strip it is. From a roll it is not, and things just get worse for the Mach 1 as speeds increase.

What do Stage 2 Cobalt SS/SC's trap when running that 13.9?

I think roll racing has a certain place.....
if your gonna race 2 guys and their cars. go from a dig.
If you want to see 2 cars compare their power, roll racing actually does a better job of it.

It just allows us tractionally challenged FWDs to have a bit of a chance lol.

i mean, if you line up a STI with an SRT4, its almost silly to JUST do a roll, or JUST do a dig.
since each car is going to have advantages one way or the other.

Just compare trap speeds, like a stage 2 with a full exhuast vs. a mach 1 with some boltons. Most **** go from rolls, I don't remember the last I hit the waterbox at 40 mph.

Mach 1 FTW!

ETs are a great way to tell who is better. whether you're an sti getting that huge lead on a launch or the SRT4 that seems like it barely moves. by the end of that 1/4 mile, it shows just who has the faster car.

just because a car gets a huge jump off the line doesn't mean he's going to hold it til the end.

love your sig btw

You cant compare a stock car to a modded car in defense to the Mustang. I have a 06 SC and its has the intense stage 5 with corsa exhaust, and a intake. Other goodies as well. I can beat my buddies blue Mach 1 but its still a pretty good race. I can beat him by a little bit over a car up to around 100 from a dig. But from a roll its not much of race. But to say the GM Stage 2 with a intake can beat a Mach 1 is just ridiculous. But a modded Mach 1 with similar upgrades we dont stand a chance.
