Needless to say firestorm the Mach1 unless driven horribly will win.
As for the 1995 GT it's toast the chip and intake might help it run a high 14 with a good driver.
I agree. I think his car would take it from a roll, but they're going to the strip. The strip plays directly into the Mach 1's strengths and the SS/SC weakness. The Mach should get a good holeshot on you, which he will keep. The SS/SC might stop him from pulling away any further, but his 60' will be enough to kill it.
i agree, but it'lll still be a good race. and he is old, maybe he's too scared to floor it, (something might break on his baby), and ill drive mine like i stole it.
ps. after 4 years of hearing about "my mustang this, my mustang that" from my neighbor, and now him teasing me about my my cute lil black car and that it must run on squirrel power, i wanna show him what 2.0 litres of rodent power can do!
he honestly believes his 95 gt will kick my ass.
dont mess with it my buddy has one and i raced it and lost so bad...gave me 10secs to start i was at 103 and he flew passed me... hahaha it was so funny though...hes pushin about 450 to the rear wheels with supercharger though
mach 1's have right at 305 at the wheels because of the parasidic loss through the drivetrain . thats a bit more than us . they also come from the factory with 3:55 gears which is an excellant gear for those down low digs and even better for mid range rolls . that motor is also a modular motor which revs very quickly and doesn't drop revs nearly as quick as it builds them . bottom line enless you've got some serious mods , you will get walked bad . save your time and heart ache man . Besides why doesn't that fool go find a camaro or something to run , why's he gotta get a hard on for the 4 bangers ?

not likely for you to lose to that 95 enless he's got a few tastefull mods .
P.S. I have owned 12 mustangs and worked on every year there has ever been . Just don't want anyone to think I'm pulling this info from my ass.

Hmmm, I've never seen a Mach 1 dyno 305hp at the wheels in stock trim...that's their advertised horsepower level (flywheel). I've seen most put down 270ish rwhp.
anyone can mash the go pedal, but racing is still racing, and if he pounds it too hard, hell smoke it. and i have a shot. seeing that green light makes ppl overreact.
and if he uses traction control, that kills the hp big time at launch.

if he uses traction control he will still likely beat you. his car is a pretty big amount faster from a roll, and even if traction control is on he will still probably launch right next to you since the cobalts have such major traction issues. the fact is, if he can drive he will beat you.
thats what im saying, he is old, and bought the car to have it. he never drives it, and most certainly never drives it hard.
im not saying i will beat him, im saying under the right circumstance, i have a shot.
i totally intend on handing my neighbor his ass with his 95 manual.
i just wanna try and get something on him, he looks like chuck norris, and is big time high level blackbelt in okanauwa? (i know i didnt get that right) owns a studio, and beats the tar outta me every time i go sparring.
i gotta beat him at something.
if the car wont work, ill try him in the 1/8th with myt SSS.
you know i look at racing the same way i look at golf. its nice to win, but it's most important to beat your own personal best....

stop thinking about it right there. you will never beat this man at anything, and if you do you will die of a broken neck less than a second after and nobody will ever hear from you again.
I raced one with my stage 2 and 2.8" and he pulled me top end from 45 but up to about 100 it was dead even so with a 2.7" and a good custom tune u could prob handle it, but from a stop is a diff story.

Actually Mustang pro if you really knew that much it would be easy to see that a stock Mach1 usually sees 265-275WHP.
And Floridas Finest SS you most likely raced an auto Mach1.
I own both, and can say that while the cobalt makes more power on the dyno it is indeed slower on any measure of drag strip. The only advantage would be a rolling 50 punch to 100 i would give to the cobalt before the Mach 1/DH flies past

What mods and what do they each make for power? A stock cobalt SS/SC makes about 50whp less than a Mach.
Mach 1's are slower than AIDS in Antarctica. More like Mach NONE. My GTP whoops them at half throttle.
This has to be a record franken-thread!
Seventeen years dead - and brought back to life.
LOL
Your GTP may have had luck, but the S197 Mustang was, and is, a great car - and they have only gotten faster since this thread died.
According to wikipedia the 2005 Mustang GT is capable of 13.7 in the quarter - which is absolutely faster than a 2005-2007 Cobalt SS(SC), and inarguably faster than any even remotely stock GP-GTP.
When I bought my car, the turbo cars were few and far between, and one local had tried several times to race his '09 SS against an '08 Bullitt mustang (essentially a GT with an appearance package and a few factory bolt-on's);
Every time he tried, he was easily spanked.
This was at a time when no one was tuning yet, and the best you could do with a n SS/TC was a superchips tuner (which iirc only fooled the ecm into thinking the ambient air was cooler).
