SRT4 vs R32
Ok so I guess I have to explain everything to you.... Ok 2 year degree local college here in town while working 2 jobs... to go to the 4 year college is more expensive I dont have 20 grand to hand out and move into a different town so I need a loan or what Im getting the gi bill...
The evo, is so damn similar to the sti and the 10 years I have lived in this town thats the only cars I have been around... We have the best shop on the east coast for subarus in my town called AR performance... They built several cars for alot of people and my buddy works for them so thats the only thing I have been around...
I know what kind of gas hogs they are, really dont want a car where the car is already fast I wanna build it myself instead of buying a evo and really putting quite a few different things on it and making an easy 400 whp evo or subi... Plus the boxer engine nor the evo are honestly my cup of tee.... I dont wanna spend 30 grand on a car that I have to park outside when I dont have a garage where I live... I would rather have the hatch and not worry about anything that happens to it....

But why an older honda civic? Why not something nicer? Is it because u have to park it outside? If u wanted a solid FWD platform you could have went with the nsrt4 considering its pretty easy getting those into the 12's and 11's too.
The thing I dont get though is this. I understand u dont want an EVO because it can be a little hungry on the gas side. I also get not wanting one because its AWD just like the subaru's. However, if you want low 12's, high 11's its amazingly easy to do in those cars. The subaru's are not as mod friendly as the EVO. Hell, Ive seen stock turbo EVO 9's running 11's in the quarter mile which is insane. Very little work too. And they dont run out of power in the top end like STI's do. Ive seen higher whp EVO's pull cobra's, viper's, hell even imports on the highway.

Believe me the car that I have wanted for a while now is the 2006 evo mr lol just something about that car in gray is just so damn sexy haha... I even like the 2010 blue gsr X but same thing applies....
Where the hell are u getting these numbers from seriously? Do you even know what the PT loss is on the CSRT? And what the hell does crank hp matter when we all dyno for whp?
I agree with you on this. If youre not looking for something to build, and you want a decent pricetag a VW is a good way to go.
I have an 1/8mile and 1/4mile track both within an hour of my house. I try to go out there as much as I can.
Its all good. I really dont get offended by people. Honestly when I bring it to the track I get tons of compliments and people want to check it out. I knew when I bought it that it wasnt a "pretty" car by any means. However I couldnt turn down all the cool features ( like a cooler built into the dash ), the great year round handling, and the amazing engine.

there is no doubt that the car has an amazing engine, 570WHP on a stock block is pretty insane, i just wish dodge would have put it in a better looking shell so i too could be just as interested in it as you.
hahahahaha u guys are actually comparing srt4 with r32 ?
vw vs. dodge hahaha its like comparing cardboard(dodge) to metal (vw)
to give out an example
the nissan gtr the new one is like 98000 here in canada and it competes with 300 000 dollar cars like lambos and ferraris , does dat mean ill buy a gtr over a lambo or ferrari ? NOOOO
same with da srt 4 and an r32 ur buying a VW (QUALITY) not a cheap american car
i dont drive a vw i drive a cobalt ss 2.4, so dont go nuts thinking im a vw owner

You do realize that the honda will end up just breaking quite a bit. I am taking a guess that your civic hatch will probably spend more time in the shop or sitting in the driveway than actually running well on a daily basis for a well rounded DD.
Good luck with it as a project. I just hope it doesn't become the money pit that I am guessing it will be and be spending more time down than running. At that point you have to ask yourself if it was so worth spending the money on an 16 old car, the time spent doing the engine swap, internal work, turbo kit, etc.... or just spend the money on a new quick car to begin with that can handle the power from the go.
I have been over 300 whp in my car for quite awhile (mostly on a stock turbo setup) and now on a 50trim turbo setup with plenty of room to go up to about 400-440 whp. That is about as far as I want to go with my car since it is my DD. Anything more than that is just not that easy to drive as a DD in a FWD platform. Doesn't really matter what kind of FWD car you are driving.
Good luck

lol dude i dont mean to be a dick but im talking about the R32. THe PT loss on AWD is 25% at the highest, im not talking about the CSRT4 hahaha. The reason why i brought up the R32's numbers is because you were saying the R32 was **** and the engine was garbage, and the csrt4 gets x amount of horsepower and blah blah, when in all reality the R32 gets kinda close to it on stock internals. I brought up crank numbers because AWD loses alot of HP due to drivetrain loss so to prove my point i brought up crank numbers to show you how big of numbers they get. WHen i did that math i was talking about the R32 not the csrt4 lol.

I agree on the shell though. Its definitely not the nicest looking car around. Its mean looking, but not nice. I guess Ill explain it like someone else did who gets the looks better than I do:
"all the features and extra room of the CSRT have to go somewhere."
not many people know this, but the CSRT was originally designed to compete with the HHR SS. This is directly from mopars mouth in a mopar chat thread. Realtune however kind of made it compete with other sport compacts.
O lolz. I was like "how the **** does he know what the PT loss is on the CSRT?!? Even I dont know that and I know just about every knit picky detail about it!"

unfortunately theyre not really. Thats why its a buyers market for them! The biggest is problem Dodge didnt advertise the CSRT4 enough and the right way. Dodge fails at advertising.
You might buy a lambo or ferrari if you had 300,000 dollars, but if you don't and you do have 98,000 dollars, you are telling me you wouldn't buy the GTR? If you give any other answer other than yes you are a ***. there might be other cars out there for the same price, but you didn't give them in your example so don't try and use that as an excuse.
i would obviously buy it
but before in this thread they were talking about buying an r32 over dodge srt
im just saying dat i would buy the r32 since its a vw (quality, and name ) same with Lambo over Nissan
but if i dont have da money to buy an r32 or a lambo den i would consider buying something in the srt4 or the gtr price range
i was trying to prove a point when there is no financial difficulties ...
i dont even want to argue and be a part of this lol
coz anyways i cant afford any vw or a lambo , or actually i dont think i can afford anything right now lol

I usually go with the lower of the two numbers for best case scenarios.
Take the NSRT-4, rated at 230 whp stock. roughtly 261 bhp * 12% = 31.32 hp DTL. 261 bhp - 31.32 DTP hp = 229.68 whp.
You can apply the same principle to the other cars as well. I am horrible when it comes to math and can't remember how to go the opposite way whp * or / DTL % = bhp, so I usually have to type in a few numbers multiplying by the DTL % to get the whp number to match. When you are looking for new cars though using edmunds.com or KBB.com most of the numbers on there are rated at the engine (bhp) so it is easy at that point, but when people post up dyno numbers, which are usually at the wheel since no one pulls their engine to dyno it that is where I have to mess around with the bhp numbers to get thier whp numbers.
All it does is give you an idea of what kind of power the engine can take versus what kind of power the car puts to the ground.
dats not the point here

but that is actually what is most of the time being argued. not everyone has the money to spend $30k plus on a car. not without either a huge down payment or some frickin high ass car payment. So what we are really arguing mostly is the performance of the car for the price. Hence the GTR over the Ferarri or lambo.
For the market that the SRT-4 was developed for (FWD sport compact) it will hand any other car it's ass. It may not handle as well as an AWD car, but it will handle just fine against another FWD car (this is at the time it was being sold, 2003 to say 2005/6). After that the SS/TC came and you have the MS3 and those actually were competition on the same level if not better (we will even through the SS/SC in there as well since it was a good beginning for the cobalt). Before that you had what, honda civic Si or the prelude, yeah, not much of a competition there. Even their $30k+ MUGEN Si is a fail. Looks even riceyer (if that is even a word), zero power adders, and has a better suspension. That is about it. I hope they like going through those turns hard as hell because they are going to be left behind in the straights by the SRT-4, SS/TC, SS/SC, MS3, hell even the VW GTI (which my friend has and it isn't too bad in pickup being stock).

Agreed. They should have placed more ads in Boating Digest.
The car is a flop.
Ok, I will let the ugliest car have the last word...
Ur a ******* joke, seriously. You can come talk to me about cars when you stop using ricer logic, and start using that pea sized brain in your head.
When all you have is "looks" as an arguement, I guess you really dont have a leg to stand on.
O, and Im faster.
