that is the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard. that's like me saying, "let me drop $30,000 on my honda and i bet i at least keep up w/ that vette." the fact is you don't have $15,000 laying around to dump into a cobalt for mods.

people are here because they are interested about the cobalt. there are all kinds of different car owners here. both imports and domestics. if you have a problem w/ that please feel free to leave. i can help you out too if you like.

Hmmmmm - interesting a comparison between a $18k auto (in my case) and a $30k something auto ,
now that is ridiculous. Dollar for dollar is the only real comparison , bottom line!

Isn't this a Cobalt site? My stab is at owners who said they should have bought an import instead!
Support the product this site is designed for.

As far as me having money - I'm 40 something , have a good job - I've got it. The Cobalt is a toy though.

Why are you being "hard line"?
If your ready to "boot me" over an opinion , maybe your moderator position needs evaluating!

EVO's are entirely too expensive. I would rather buy a c5 vette for around the same price.

You would think so but not the case. Get a quote on an evo's insurance. It will throttle you more than the car does lol

MY reason to never own a mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8

This was an accident involving to of my good friends from highschool... this was a week after i got my Cobalt and i was supposed to see them that night! The report they constructed determined that the car was only traveling 55-65 mph... look at the wreck and tell me you would want to own one of those cars!

RIP Figgs

If it can hook, they might make it like the GTO. And it will be more then and STI and EVO.

Not sure what you are saying...

What do you mean "if it can hook it will be like the GTO"??

And despite what you may think, the Camaro is not going to be much (if any) more than than the STi or Evo. The base model with the V6 should start around $21K, the Z28 will be about $28K, and the 400HP SS model should be $34K-$35K - which is about the same cost as an Evo MR. Of course even the Z28 will still walk all over both cars, so either way its still cheaper.

The GTO has 400hp and can't beat and STI or EVO because is has trouble hooking Chevy might mess up and do the same with Camaro.

We will see though, especially since the EVO X is coming out next year with 300(+)hp and the STI will be redone for 2008.

And how do you know how fast a car will be before it is even built??

Name some RWD cars with 400 or more hp that doesn't have any problems with a hard launch. I venture to say, there isn't any.

Where do you come up with this stuff?? With a good driver, a 6.0 GTO will ruin an Evo or STi no problem - dig or roll, no matter.

Second of all, theres a very good chance that the Camaro will have a solid rear axle, not an independent rear setup like the GTO has. I almost guarentee it. Reasoning being that with the V6 model starting in the high teens/low twenties in terms of price, there's no way they could afford to offer an IRS setup. The GTO starts at about $32K, hence the reason it has IRS. A solid rear axle is much better for launching, so it shouldn't suffer from any of the wheel hop/traction issues that a GTO driver has to work around.

The specs for the new Camaro have pretty much been confirmed, and its pretty easy to guess the ones that haven't. The top model is going to be powered by the 400HP LS2 coupled to a 6-speed manual, and it should weigh about 3400lbs, close to the new Mustang. Based on that alone its pretty obvious that neither the Evo or STi would stand a chance. And even if the overhyped Evo "X" does happen to have "300+ HP", its still going to be over 100WHP short of the LS2, not to mention turbo lag city.

Why the need to defend the Camaro so much? It will be nice and I am looking forward to it. Hopefully Chevy can move them, even though I doubt it.

Anyways, do you know what the Evo fq300 and fq430 are? Probably not hence your comment about "turbo lag city".

Define "more than most", be more specific because that was pretty vague response, like you aren't sure of what you are talking about.

Your Corvette for example. 400hp f-bodies and mustangs/cobras don't have the same amount of problems that GTOs have. I know it is almost completely due to the IRS as opposed to SRA, but still my point was that it would be a mistake if they didn't put a solid axle in the Camaro like they should have done in GTO. IRS can be made to hook really well the 2nd fastest stock IRS C4 was here and it hooked but that was with GIANT slicks.

Obviously it does, because its got an IRS setup. However its nothing that a good driver can't learn to work around.

Delusional?? Why?? Because I stated the fact that a 6.0 400HP V8 GTO will walk all over a 4-door turbo lagging 4-banger with 130 less HP?? If anyone is "delusional" its you

Anyways, do you know what the Evo fq300 and fq430 are? Probably not hence your comment about "turbo lag city".
Yea, actually I do. They tested one on Top Gear and it got walked by a rental econo car from a roll in 5th gear. It also had a terrible turn radius, crappy interior, useless clutch, and enough turbo lag to make the car miserable to drive at low speeds. Sounds like an awesome car
