Superchips
i'm just curious to see what was up with your car since i remember there were issues some people were saying it was tune related others were saying hardware related.. you said you had some misfires before you got tuned .. and it got worse after you were tuned.. that suggests it was hardware related but i'm just curious so I don't go spouting off wrong info..
i'm not saying trifecta's perfect.. but posting that going with trifecta WILL make you have problems is ignorant.. just as ignorant as saying trifecta isn't a custom tune..
ya i had a hole in my cp but that has since been fixed but the hp tune was put on the car without problem being fixed and it worked perfectly...no misifre so i have no idea....not saying trifecta caused it just saying trifecta didnt work on MY car, i guess we will see im gonna buy a new 3rd cyl coilpack just to be sure

well glad you got it worked out though.. sorry trifecta didn't work for you
EDIT-Saw your sig. Hahn intake...try putting stock air box on and see if it misfires. I am willing to bet it wont.
hmmm...plugs or coils? Replaced them recently? Obviously it cant be compression loss...although a good way to tell is park on a very steep hill and leave the car in first, see if she rolls, although I doubt this is an issue on a new 08/09 SS/TC. And the only other thing it could be is AFR. What are you AFR numbers looking like? I dont even know what SC adjusts these too. You running aftermarket intake?

I think many have downplayed the complexity of tuning this motor.
its a DI motor that uses unconventional afr's and igntion-timing with infin. variable cam phasing,
and while Im sure people like Trifecta, etc. are talented, HP tuners doesn't have complete control over the ECU
One would have to think that The PPC and Superchips people crack the ECU their own way
and maybe have a different amount of control over the ECU
Whatever the case its less aggressive
PPC has experience with all sorts of euro gas and diesel turbo motors from VW and others,
and Superchips knows turbo diesels
Trifecta seems to make power but.... idunno

People may consider Vince the best at working with the LNF ecu (personally I think its Westers Garage), but superchips and BSR have much much more experience with forced induction. Whats great is that everyone learns from everyone
I should be getting back up to the track sometime soon. I'm confident I could get my numbers lower. I was just figuring out this tune and how to drive it when they told me to get a helmet and then I broke that stupid solenoid wire. Luckily warranty covered it all. I'll be doing the zip-tie mod to that wire soon so I don't get the same issue again. And as soon as I find some time to get up to Big Shots I'll have this thing dynoed as well to give further ideas as to what this tune puts down. I'm much closer to stock than drewbroo so it'll be interesting to see how much things differ. I'll try to get some baseline numbers as well since I can just flash it back to stock.
I tuned his car for him. His A/F was going rich at WOT because the air leak was pretty bad (hole the size of my thumb in the rubber hose on the hotpipe). His A/F was a full point richer then commanded because of that. He was misfiring badly on Trifecta's tune because Trifecta's tune is already very rich compared to everyone elses tunes so his A/F was in the 10s!!!! We did log one misfire at 6300 rpms on the third to fourth shift. If you want Brian Let me know when you plan on going to the dyno I can tweak a few thing for you to see if I can make you more power now that you have the CP fixed.

Guy's, thanks for all your feedback and enthusiasm. We are right there with you - as we are enthusiasts just like each of you. I wanted to jump in here and give you an update on where we are at with info on the kit.
There is no hiding that GM has gone through its fair share of some very rough times here this summer. In fact - GM has never been in a position like this in it's lifespan. So there are a lot of new things that they are learning as they go through everything that the Government is taking us through. With all of that, GM has stayed very focused and loyal to what and who they are. It's under more extreme pressure and harder to do things that have been easy in the past - but so is life right?
We are working hard to provide an update for you. Believe me, your thoughts are not falling on deaf ears. They are working as hard and fast as possible to be able to push this out for all of you. As you can imagine, there is more red tape for GM to do anything "normal" right now - given the state of affairs.
I ask that you be patient and stay tuned here for updated info. If you will give us that, I promise we will serve you with respect and the way we would want to be treated.
On the other hand, if you cannot wait and do not want to - we understand that as well. That is what is so wonderful about this country that we all live and work in - you have the free right to do what you feel is best for you. We still respect that and always love to hear how you did with your upgrades and what worked and what didn't.
As for us, we are one of you. Normal Americans that are working as hard as we can to provide the best service as possible. We will not let that ever slip and will only get better over time. Thank you for all of your continued support and love that most of you share with us. The feeling is very mutual.
Have a great day. We are back to work to hunt down what you are all waiting patiently for!

Also I had to put some 93 octane fuel in because I was about to die and it was either that or 89. Do you think that could have caused the misfire?
you have to have 91 or above in your car period, tuned or not. Never use 89 or 87
Low oct will cause knock and missfires. 93 Octane would not have been the cause, I put sunoco 100 in the other day with no issue. (felt faster too)

As the superchips 91 octane most certainly uses the stock timing the 100 octane should not make any measurable difference. In fact, most of the time it will show a slight decrease in performace because of the higher combustion temps required to burn 100 octane. If you modified your timing table to reflect the use of 100 octane it will show decent gains (10-15 whp) but on stock timing it is just placebo effect.
