08 SS/TC Custom Intake
So I put back my stock intake back in today and guess what? Noticed a slight loss in power and also noticed it in the HPT log. I lost 3 lbs/min of air (MAF) and about 2 lbs of boost. I haven't tested this on the dyno but I'm sure there has to be some sort of gain with a CAI.
I put mine back to stock this weekend.. I was having a decent number of misfires with it in place, those have dropped to an occasional misfire. I noticed the power drop immediately - with the custom CAI, I had trouble with traction in 1st - back to stock, not nearly as much (still a bit of wheel spin, but not nearly as much).
Im going to wait for the first company to release a real CAI before I try this again. Another issue I was having was the long term fuel trims were pulling -14 to -15 with the CAI. I also had an issue (twice!) where the intake tube actually slipped out of the rubber that leads to the turbo. It was just too loose a fit.
Absolutely no knocking with my setup, though. Knock retard stayed at 0.0 the entire time I had it.

i'm still using a spectre kit, been on for over 3 weeks, no problems yet... though I did use rubber couplings on the MAF sensor adapter as opposed to the tube collars in the Spectre kit, I tried to use to tube collars, but the one connecting to the 45 degree elbow from it, came loose, so I replaced both with 3" rubber couplings(from a hardware store) while I was at it... Still running 18-19 psi, turbo spools much faster than stock, gas mileage seems to have increased a little(I was running about 26.6mpg average, not its at 27.5) and I haven't changed my driving habits and my driving route in consistent...
there isn't really a gain in power, but I haven't noticed a "loss" either

I think the problem most are having, is trying a home brew setup... I think if people actually used Spectre's MAF sensor mount at the least, they wouldn't be having this trouble... I have found no ill effects from it and it doesn't seem any slower...
