Its also in the cam setup. If you have stock-like cams with a tubular manifold, your spool will be slower as you're not pushing out as much exhaust to spool the turbo. Get an aggressive cam paired with a tubular manifold and your spool will surprisingly be a decent amount quicker. On a log manifold, you want as little overlap as possible.
Us Honda guys have toyed with this as the pre-vtec lobes are like an econo camshaft setup and the vtec cam lobes are decently aggressive. Most log manifold guys are setting the vtec crossover to around 7000rpms and making more midrange power than if they'd set it lower. The tubular manifold guys set the vtec crossover to around 4500rpms and it spools the turbo faster.

Knowing that it is a great running engine makes it easier to build lol. I know I dont have to sleeve it or get it bored out. The compression test was still great so it should be a matter of deglazing the cylinders, getting the crank balanced and spec for bearing size and put it together. If it really goes that easy.
Yea you guys flew lol. I am taking a few more days than that but it is just me for the most part, I got the motor out by myself which went very well, and with it being christmas now I wont be able to get the crank done till Monday prolly.
FF ace was fast engine rebuild on my eclipse took a month!
ya but im getting a p0016 and p0017 code the car is running great we are going to pull the timing cover and readjust the timing chain. just a heads up there is a shim on the timing chain that covers up the the marker you have to take it off to see if your timing chain is lined up properly. i just found out about this and its probably whats causing the cels

On the log mani discussion, the only reason I went with ZZPs is because of price. I paid UNDER 300 for mine, cause it was used.
cmiller, you are making great progress, keep it up!

hey looks good, our you taking to bottom end apart today to? Yea it looks new because it is new lol 25,000miles you could sell the parts on ebay as used or may be zzp would buy all that stuff
Do you know if the crank will handle the power or you're getting a forged one from like K1 performance?
Damn!! I could have got the 58/57 for the same price as the 55/57, but they told me it would spool about 300-400 rpm higher, and with the stock motor I can't go too high anyway, so I went or the 55/57. But next year I'm building the motor!!! Damn I could have got the 58/57 too.
I have a oversize 2 car garage now, like really oversized lol. But I own a LOT of toys, quads, karts, bikes etc.. So once you have all that with the tools and stuff mixed in, it gets cramped with 2 people working in there. That and I want to buy my own dyno in the spring, def will need a shop for that. My neighbors already hate me :P lol.
Well, I hope in a couple of weeks you will be able to fit my car in to work on it ahahahahahah. And if your neighbors give you problems while working on my car, let me know, I'm an italian from queens, I will send them somebody to take care of them so you won't hear from them at all for ever ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah
