Introducing Trifecta ECP- BIG NEWS
We've got a lot of feedback and we're happy with it. ECP is officially released to the public, and guess what? For those of you that don't have a tune and want ECP for your LNF, we're having a group buy to kick it off.

ok, so I understand that this is basically a Speed Density tune. Obviously every tune has its ups and its downs, otherwise if this was truly the best way dont you think GM may have run Speed Density to begin with?
so where my questions lie are here. What are the disadvantages of this tune, if any over MAF tuning?
Is vince going to give free updates for us owners with drastic seasons (aka temp changes)? or the better question is, how does he tune for the temperature? does he have it running of IATs and engine temp?. I know speed density has been kinda notorious for being kinda picky on temps, thus making you run richer or leaner as temps change (whether it be for a day, or a season)...
is the MPG affected for the worse or better when compared with the usual MAF tuning? 1-2 MPG is something idc about.. but if its like 5.. then ehhh lol...... (I do realize this depends on driver, so I suppose this is more of a person by person question)

It's not speed density, though it's similar. The MAF is still in use to a point. I don't want to get into the really technical details but temp will not affect this tune. The MAF isn't just a MAF on this car, it's also used to measure air temperature, humidity, etc.
I don't think there's a hygrometer on this car's MAF, although that would be nice sometimes. They started using them on the later ones though.
Nope!
Correct, except it will be us asking you and relaying it to trifecta

no offense, but is a "seat of the pants" review a real solid review to go by? Does anyone that is running this tune actually have any hard logs to prove that this is really accomplishing anything what-so ever aside from Vince saying, "yep, it's better"? I'm just kind of worried that there is going to be a huge placebo effect here when it comes to a review with no actual data to work off of.
I'm not bashing anything here btw. I just think it's a valid point to bring up and question.

To be fair: As a dealer wanting the best solution for my customers, as well as on a personal level if/when I run it myself, I'd love to know that the data backs the perceived improvement.
you can always purchase logging software yourself actually. Back when I was Trifecta tuned, that was how I monitored everything before I got hpt, and actually caught quite a few mistakes that he at the time had deemed "ok".
There are other less expensive datalogging solutions out there other than hptuners just so you guys know that you can actually use with your Tactrix cable you got from Trifecta.

I offered to help test it for Vince. The downside is that I couldn't go WOT right now on the power tune, since I just recently went through another tranny and my wallet can't afford to keep blowing through them.

..And to clarify: This is nothing against Vince at all. I'd just have a hard time sometimes selling a feature that nobody has any physical/recorded findings behind is all. Some people I've dealt with don't care at all about the technical aspect of how it does what it does, but only the benefit aspect of what is achieved by doing it. I have to appeal to both kinds of people.
I'm sure Vince looked into this initially because he saw promise, and then began rolling it out when he saw that benefits had been achieved by doing it. I'm just asking for something in the public domain I can point to and be like "Here, Mr. Customer, this is an example of what this feature does for you."
Like I said, if this isn't going to be possible, I can test it out and try logging it if nobody else can. Who knows, maybe it's so good that I'll have a 0 pegged fuel trim all the time.
We'd also need somebody with an atmospheric BOV, MAF relocate, etc. to get some info to show those areas as well. Mine might need some tweaking at first too, because of the head and cams.
