while your parts and numbers are fantastic, if thats the tune route you go, that'll be your shortcoming.

now lets talk turbo....

what hotside did you guys go with? thats a small-mid frame turbo, and thats REAL laggy.

I'm hopeing that its just a down fall to the rough tune your useing, but with lots of cam phase work, we've had 3575R cars spool at 4k.

and yes i'm talking about ss/tc's

the beauty of a VVT head, is you can go wild with cam phase on the intake side, while it'll cause a touch of KR it'll bring the turbo up like one wouldn't believe. a touch of initial retard on the exhasut will help things out just that much more.

use the shift event trigger to phase the exhasut cam WAYYYYYYYYY out and you'll have a mini-antilag, with out the poping and cracking, but it'll keep the egt's up. thus, a happy turbo!

i'm just speaking from my experience with the SIDI motor thus far.

cheers tho guys, your truly the cutting edge thus far with the LNF.

great looking charge pipe as well!!!!
Listen to this guy...he knows what hes talking about.

Also agreed with him and WSFrazier about tuning/tuner being your possible stumbling stone.

No stumbling stone, this is just the beginning, no where near the final numbers, I figured I would just update everyone on were we are at. Its tough being the the 1st all the time, lol.

Nope, this is a t25 hotside, not a t3, we used the .86 to help the top-end which when we start reving it a little more is going to help. Trust me when I post videos on the street your not going to think its very laggy.

Edit-
never mind, just saw your post.

so a .86 on a T2 is still larger then a T3 .63 AR in effective area, hell thats almost pushing the bottom end of the T4 size group.

thats like me saying i want to run a T3 @ .68AR

small flange, big effective area.

I'm just curious as to why you pick it?

the 2876 is good to just over 400whp worth of air flow, and even less at "streetable" boost levels, up to ~2.5PR. as well as the .86 AR needing about 4lb/min more worth of turbine flow to make it happy....as you guys know, that's HUGE!

a T3 would support less peak HP, yes, however it would prove to have MUCH more torque. while only falling a bit short on HP. especially at pump gas happy PR's

DI or not, at upwards of 30psi + atmo, you still need octane.

i want to say this rite quick, I'm not starting **** here, please dont see it as such, I'm simply inquiring about your system thus far.

i do like what your doing so far, good looking parts, quality made parts, good communication, and most of all, VARY timely development.

I have done this test a few times on hondas/nissans and have only seen a 200 rpm diffence is spool, with the ability to flow on the top end, using our past experience is why we choose what we have. Trust me a t3 based .63 (30r) will spool later as well, your not taking into account the sizes of the exhaust wheels.

damn this **** ... i need to get up to your place to take a look at all your stuff.. nice ****.. get it tuned up CORRECTLY.. notice i said CORRECTLY

and as 06black and a bunch of other said..

tuned CORRECTLY is the key..

and people scoffed at me when i said this thing could take 400 whp... just like when i said the ss/sc could make big numbers back in the day .lol as well as 2.4s.. wait ... i'm seeing a trend
way to be pioneers ..

why jump to talks of a 30R here,?

going back to the 28R, the smaller housing would nick some power off the top end, but your not to that level yet any who, notice that i said "YET" i fully expect to see it reached.

your dyno graphs, and numbers would take a nice jump, in both accounts with that smaller housing.

we've seen it on our development set ups thus far, now this is with a 35R, but the spool difference between a and a .58 T4 (smaller then your .86) and a T3 .63 (oblivious size) was FAR more then 200 rev's on this motor.

(if you'll allow me to use a average of the tests i have with me now, it was closer to the mid 600 range, with 2 tests falling way out side the average)

we also tried a T4 .84AR and a T3 .68AR both with semi-expected results, however i will say this in defense of what you've run thus far.

the larger housings, and the better exhaust flow that comes with them allows you to get more aggressive with the cam phase before you start to suffer from "unacceptable" knock amounts. and that spools them big-boys just that much quicker!

like i said, i just wanted to talk about what you had picked, and add a voice of knowledge and opinion to the thread.

i look forward to watching your progress with this.

also, once again, watch your tune(s)(er) for quality.

cam phase, cam phase, cam phase!

Trust me I know all about being first at the time...and how rough it is.

I guess I should have said what I meant more directly...I am not a fan of that tuner nor do I think it is the one that will provide the best results.

He markets himself well...

I appreciate all the feedback, we have alot of testing and tuning that will continue in the coming week, so we should all be able to learn more about what these motors like.
