yea we couldnt keep a set of axles in it and when it was on the stock ka transmissions, i broke about 8 of them lol.

Actually the car is a daily driver with AC PS and gets driven to Aventura and back (50 miles a day) every day for work for close to a year and to West palm to visit her mother every so often, no issues so far.

Most screens are actually more restrictive than a normal k&n filter and still wont stop the smaller sand/dirt particles that will mess it up anyway.

ill prolly do the same once i pick up my new turbo.
op are you going to use a boost controller or how are you working that out?

yea i'd do straight from the intake mani as well.

The line goes directly to the intake manifold, not the cold side pipe. A BOV cant work without a vacuum signal. We also removed the Boost control solenoid off the factory turbo and reused it, so he can still control boost with the factory PCM.

yea, not sure if thats going to work, we recommend disconnecting the vacuum canister completely, and plumb BOV directly to intake manifold.

Ah that's clever. I think that's what I'll do then. Just reuse the solenoid sensors and run that to the external waste gate.

Ok, just sent you one. I bought the 20psi spring to make the tuning a lil easier.

We encounter some problems while trying to tune the car, at first the car wouldn't boost past 3-4 lbs no matter what, so we open the hood and Joe changed some Vac lines with the Help of Jason (Treadstone), now the car goes unto Boost just fine but, its just way to fine or so it sounds like. Well, now the car jumps to 26+ Psi of the bat and the engine shuts it of, like the pcm is panicking somehow, so we are unable at this time to get a full throttle log with hp tuners. I I'm wondering if its something to do with the E85 Mixture the I have and since its a bigger turbo its sucking in more air then fuel!! or should it be? Also there's this, the Wastegate has 2 springs in it, a 21 lbs and bigger one to make 25 psi total in it. I was going to remove the bigger spring and leave only the 21 lbs spring and c if that helps, if not then try and run the car on 93 octane only. But, as of right now the car its untuned and wont get donw hopefully till Saturday. Ill put up some pictures of the current setup and wher all the lines are going to, give me some ideas....Thanks.

Current setup

Factory Boost controler!!

Do I need any hoses to go through this?

Thanks.

LNF manifolds do tend to leak, i've seen a couple.

On MTE's car, I was looking over the one time I got it to try and spool for more than a second and it is also running out of fuel. Needs to go back to the 14psi spring and tune from there, so I can increase boost marginally and see where we tap out the fuel system.

.. your issue isn't the spring. Its how the system is hooked up... I have. People running 26-28 lbs on a 20 lbs spring while controlling boost with the stock Pid.

And also, if you don't have a base file your not gonna run correct. Ecspecially into boost. You'll pop and crap.. so add fuel on top.. just guess it, and while logging look at fuel trims .. in that area, and add little by little.

Ok, but a 25lb spring isn't helping anything when the car is running out of fuel before that point anyway.

I don't really understand why the bigger spring was used, on a stock engine daily driven car i'd want to be able to lower boost a little bit if needed, and use the stock controller to raise it as needed.

I've tuned more than just Cobalts. I know how to pad a tune and back down into the safe zone. On a factory wide-band car it's comparatively simple.

Yeah, he's taking the car back to the shop to address the installation/setup errors, then i'll finish it up.

Was wondering when you would chime in

Do you know who ended up with your car? I'm just curious who has a built motor floating around.
