Upgrade from GM coming soon!
I too was curious, so I contacted my dealership Parts Manager and asked him to call the performance division. They said there is a great deal in the works for this engine as they're still seriously looking at a camaro with the same engine for a fuel economy/performance option so they have been testing many options. They told him there were many options coming soon but there was some discussion on what warranties could be offered with certain parts/upgrades. GMPD said parts will be released between November and March and couldn't release any pricing or specific dates. I patiently wait...

Blah blah blah...some guy at a dealership...
They have tried the LNF in the new Camaro and it only bests the V8 by 1 mpg highway...the V6 gets better mileage and has more power...
Car mags and GMPD are still discussing the LNF in the camaro. I guarantee the V6 won't have more power than a nicely upgraded LNF.
Take the info or leave it...

Just because they are discussing something doesn't mean it will happen...
People in the CTS community don't seem to have much of a problem getting some more power out of the DI 3.6 V6.
Yeah, I don't know what I'm talking about...
Am i missing something here? I mean wouldn't it make more sense to spend under a $1000 for the Hahn's racecraft PPC and get about the same horsepower maybe even a little more actually? I mean I know some of you will say the GM stage one won't void your warranty but I believe they said with the Hahn PPC you can switch back to stock and the dealership would never know incase you have to take it in? I'm lost
Who gives a crap about the ion redline? They're not releasing anything for the redline it's a dead platform!
Unless they're throwing in the lnf exhaust manifold and doing turbo conversions which isn't out of the realm of possibility because they should have a ton of those lnf block manifolds and internal wastegate saab turbos hanging around. They probably mean...sky redline.
I'd call bs, but I would be humbled if GM actually gave a crap about the redline.

GM can detect PCM reflashes with a Tech-II. END OF STORY. 8 times out of 10 they wont do it but they can. If you use HP Tuners or Hahn PPC they can tell. The only true way to be safe is to go with a GM Upgrade.
Ok,i am fuzzy on what the hp tuners/private tuners are waiting on for the 09's verses a possible winter release for a gm authorized upgrade? Is one holding up the other or is there some relation there?I think alot will choose the gm upgrade for sure if no other options around any time soon,lol-
I haven't been around this site too much since I traded in my 2006 SS/NA for a 2008 HHR SS so you may know this already. Anyway yesterday one of the members of chevyhhr.net posted this info:

There was an email address attached and so I sent a message asking what this was. The reply stated this is an upgrade kit to take these vehicles to 290 hp and more information would be coming shortly. Nice."
"This is for a kit that we are getting ready to release for the Sky Redline, Solstice GXP, HHR SS, Cobalt SS, and Ion Redline. It will be a turbo upgrade kit for all of the 2.0l Turbo LNF engines. It will raise the HP on these cars from 260-290hp. Keep watching for the release.
I then asked was this stage 1 and would other stages be released?
The email answer back was:
There is only one stage planned at this point."

The Cobalt kit will be 315 hp @ 4800 rpm [+55] = GM Part number 19212670.
The kit for 290 hp @ 5200 rpm [+30] is for the HHR with an automatic transmission.
"The Californa Air Resources Board (CARB) published a CARB cert for this tune today. It was executed on Aug 22nd. This means that this tune will be 50 state legal, does in fact exist, and is probably close to release.
From the cert:
"The LNF Turbocharged Ecotec Upgrade Kit includes a calibration update, two mass air flow/intake air temperature sensors (TMAP sensors) to replace the stock manifold absolute pressure sensor and the TMAP sensor, and installation hardware."
The hardware part number is 12626990.
The calibration part numbers are:
2007 auto trans : 12625958
2007 manual trans : 12625959
2008 auto trans without electronic vacuum pump for brake assist : 12625952
2008 manual trans without electronic vacuum pump for brake assist : 12625954
2008 auto trans with electronic vacuum pump for brake assist : 12625951
2008 manual trans with electronic vacuum pump for brake assist : 12625953
2008 chevy hhr auto trans : 12625956
2008 chevy hhr manual trans : 12625957
2008 chevy cobalt manual trans : 12625955
Also, when you do take your car in, and they do need to check your ECM, with HP the dlr will find it unless you take it to your tuner and have it de-tuned which costs more $$$, then when you get your car back, yet another re-tune to put her back into power overdrive.[/QUOTE]
Not the end of story now is it. Two techs at dealership couldn't detect anything on the tune.
