i just put in castrol edge because advanced auto was out of mobile 1 5w-30 and i like it better then mobile 1. and TPR magazine did a bit on the ss/sc 3 years ago and with just an oil change Royal purple netted 2whp on their dyno.

I was running amsoil untill this upcoming oil change. I was getting it for 7.49 a quart, but my friend is no longer a distributer. Either going to try castol or valvoline syn power, both have higher ratings than mobil 1

Just had my oil and semi annual at the stealership.

Anyways, seems GM has switched to the new castrol synthetic, apparently it has been made specifically for GM vehicles?

I still had them use Mobil 1, but is anyone using this castrol, I think it was GTX...

any reviews?

Castrol GTX is the conventional, non-synthetic oil and won't meet the GM requirements for the LNF engine. You may want to check and see what they used in your car. If it was one of the full synthetic Castrol (Syntec, Edge, etc.) then you should be fine.

yea, I know for sure they put mobil 1 in.
the service head was trying to get me on this castrol oil though, I know it was a synthetic, but I just couldn't remember the actually brand.. as you stated probably syntec or edge.
