im not sure what post it was in, but someone said there was some calibrations that needed to be made by the dealer when you plug in a new ECU. So I thought that the idea of having a stock ECU and a tuned ECU were out of the question unless ure dealer isnt gonna get suspicious of having to keep setting these calibrations on the your ECU. IDK maybe im wrong.

Its the clutch learn - it needs to be done in the car, and can only be accessed by a Tech II. Once its done, its learned to the car, so you can swap in and out, but since the Tech II is so expensive really only dealerships have one. It would be suspicious for you to walk in and ask them to perform a clutch learn - since it only needs to be done once.
I have told others who have said to get another ECM the same thing. Your dealer is going to be kinda suspicious if you have two ECMs.
It is not really a learn down feature as much as a preprogrammed airload (air mass) limit that the ECM has. It varys the boost level from the turbo in order to maintain that airload. So, if you make the car more efficient at pumping air in and out the turbo has to work less hard to acheive that airload. To answer you question the programming is changed in the stage tune so it will consistantly boost 20-22 psi I believe, but it can be tweaked to boost more with the new sensors. The stock turbo is maxed out at around 23 psi though. So it will not ever go back to the stock boost levels.
There is "rumors" that the car will adjust to the best performance available , depending on gas , air , boost limits etc to fit what the car is able to do. So if there is a more efficient induction system, the car should account for that and not "learn down" to meet the factory specs. The car will always protect itself, but should adjust for optimal performance for the given conditions.
Kind of off-topic, but would you mind clarifying the clutch learn deal?
Thanks

i work for a chevy dealership and i called GM about the stage kit and they said by the middle or the end of march for the kit. they said its going to be different from the hhr kit do to the fact that they have different intake manifolds
If you waited this long for the kit, why give up warranty at only 2 months away? Not saying the other tunes are no good, but really, are you that impatient? What will you do within 2 months of having an aftermarket tune that you couldn't do 2 months later with the GM tune?

Who did you talk to...... ???
Gotta help us out man so we know your not lying/making up stuff...
I appreciate you sharing with us though!
Mine works awsome .... Put 800 miles on it since new ECU and no clutch relearn + tune uploaded and downloaded just fine
