My wife's 540i got the mark of Cain as soon as we put the Dinan DME flash and intake on it ten years ago; the reason people pay Dinan money (they set their prices to chase away the cost-sensitive buyer, e.g. $7995+installation for an admittedly very pretty and beautifully made set of headers for an E39 M5) is to get Dinan's warranty coverage (note that it's Dinan's, not BMWNA's.)

Mitsus, Scoobys, Cobras, Lightnings (oh, especially Lightnings), just about everything, if you've been playing with the ECU or the blower pulley or the wastegate or whatever, you'd fall into the "we're going to deny this until you prove you DIDN'T break it."

And it's perfectly reasonable to do so.

You build a car and you sell it and what you charge for it includes some margin to cover what you figure you're going to have to pay out in warranty repairs. If you're gonna cover the guys who scatter a $5000 (or $25000) engine all over the pavement with too much pulley or too many revs, you're gonna have to jack the price of the car by a thousand bucks.

So, from my standpoint - I have no problem with you pumping up your car, but if something breaks, get out your own wallet and don't try to drop those costs in the lap of every other buyer.

There's a line, though, between damage that can reasonably be assumed to come from modifications vs damage from hard use of what the factory gives you. The crap Nissan's pulled with the glass-jawed GT-R transmission is silly. And GM's policy in this area, from what I can tell, is very good.

Realtune is out of OH, and they have been posting vids on the progress with their CSRT4, in addition to talking about it at the track. Also, theres a dealership in OH that is actually using his vids to sell them. Dodge fails at advertising.

People dont understand, and they prefer not to do any research. People are lazy. They want something that is pretty, and to bring their cars to the dealership for everything instead of working on it themselves. No one changes their oil anymore, hell Ill bet most dont even know what type of oil goes in their car.

Really, the CSRT4 is an awsome deal. EVO powerplant without the 40k pricetag. The Genesis is going to be an even better deal. I cant wait to see what that will do when it comes out and the aftermarket is available for it.

The fact that u think its a "pile of ****" shows ur pretty much in the general populus, and not really a tuner. You should seriously sit down and think about why u bought ur SS/TC. Sounds to me like u really dont know.

x10000. I agree completely with this. Someone builds a fast machine its impressive regardless of what it is.
GM Racing and CSI Racing seem to build these ECOTEC motors like bomb shelters; they seem to be so incredibly strong and make so much power that bystanders confuse all the noise for some sort of science experiment gone wrong. Well, Brian Ballard got behind the wheel of his 900hp “science fair” project at the latest World Cup event at MIR and wrestled it 1,320 feet faster than anyone in history has done in a FWD street car. Ballard and his 2.1L Mobil 1 / Borg Warner powered Chevy Cobalt did the deed in only 8.96 seconds, blasting the rest of the 16 car field out of the water.

Ballard also took home the World Cup for the Wild Street category in which he ran during the competition. You can check out the video of the pass and watch all the boys from CSI racing go nuts after the jump.

LMFAO I don't want a Mitsu Powerplant ...

Hyundai Genesis... You have to be ******* joking ....

Thats right .... Once the aftermarket catches up you poor little Mitsu boys will all be eatin our dust.

Ecotecs in the 6's now whats that FWD GM MOTOR IN THE 6's????? 2.0 ? thats 800HP per liter BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHA ..

yeah they announced the pricing on the Genesis today, the "track" edition turbo-4 is over $26,000, they start at $22,000 but realistically that is about $24,500.... the Grand Touring V6 is bumping $28,000, top model starts at $31,000.... the turbo 4 also has a 0-60 in like 7 and a half seconds(i know you wish I was joking)

hmmm, lets see, Nissan 370Z or a ******* Hyundai???? Hyundai failed with that car before it even hits the lots, no one is going to pay $25,000 for a Korean sports car that does 0-60 in 7 seconds, the V6 is nice but its no Mustang GT(which boasts 300hp and a V8 for the same money)....

The Hyundai coupe is about the best-looking car I've seen in ten years, the 370Z isn't awful but it's still got a high hood and little tiny windows and Nissan's interior designs have been trending toward silly since sometime around 1997.

The Mustang GT works okay but it's really a POS, high beltline, stick axle, and everything you touch inside the car says "I was built to sell for $16K." The interior materials are embarrassing even by Ford standards. And it's a huge lump - look at an S197 Mustang parked next to an early car, a '65 or even a '67, the new one looks like a shipping case for the early car.

you've never actually driven or rode or known anyone who has owned a Hyundai, have you? a girl I used to date bought a Tiburon right when we got out of high school... I lost count how many times it had to go back for warranty work, lol

Hyundais haven't exactly been known for their build quality and has pretty much no experience in the performance world... that should be interesting

as far as "looks" once again, its a Nissan Z rip off, why not buy the Z when you KNOW the build quality is there, you aren't taken a chance with a new Korean sports car that you don't know two ***** about... I mean when this car debuted as a concept it was "supposed" to be the fastest car under $30,000(which I highly doubt it will be)... and the turbo-2.0 was supposed to have a 0-60 in 6 flat and start at $18,000

but what we get is:

a 350Z(V6) rip off that will cost $30,000 when optioned

and a turbo-4 cylinder that has the get up and go of a Nissan Sentra for $25,000

everybody is all "but the turbo 4 cylinder shares the same block as the Evo!!!"... yeah it does, and its 200hp... to get it to Evo levels(around 300hp), you now have a shitty built Korean car with NO warranty coverage, good job

I think he is talking about the new S197 GT's, and if you're beating them in your stock SS/TC, it's either from a roll, or you're racing autos or shitty drivers. Average 1/4 mile times for the S197 Mustang GT is around 13.5-13.6, and that is average, not the fastest, and the new 370Z is a low 13 second car, but will probably average around 13.4-13.5, which is still faster than the SS/TC.

There was a time a few years ago that Mercedes dropped off of the top 10 in initial quality...just as companies can slack off in quality (like Toyota has), companies can reinvent themselves and improve their quality...

I'm not saying Hyundai is top notch quality, but with the correct business focus and efforts, anyone can complete with Merc, BMW, and the others that are infamous for their quality (no matter how misguided this perception is)...

Ur a retard. Thats not street legal, and thats not something ur going to make.

In addition u ******* thats a 2.2l build, not an LNF or LSJ. Since u seem to think u can pull this off why dont u go ahead and sell ur LNF to a person who actually cares about tuning, then pick up a 2.2l and show us ur 900 hp application.

Ur an uneducated newb. 500 whp is REAL for me. 900 whp is NOT REAL for u dummy. U know what it takes to be able to make 1000 hp for the ecotec dummy? Heres the list:

1) Race prepped engine block with head and main studs
2) Race prepped 4340 billet steel crank
3) Production main bearing kit
4) Race billet connecting rods
5) Connecting Rod bearing
6) Forged Aluminum Race Piston with Pin Locks
7) High strength 22mm wrist pins
8) Piston Rings
9) Race prepped CNC Ported Head
10) High performance Cam Set
etc...

There are 20 more parts after these. And this is to run a 1000 hp max application. Comon punk, start bulding. I got part numbers too if u want them. Comon Mr. UBER tuner that thinks he can make better times than EVERY COBALT OWNER out there. Lets see what u got punk. Lets see u pass emmisions, and dirve that car down the street as a DD. See how long it lasts.

Ur nothing but a little nutswinging turd, and u dont know **** about cars. U need to know when to STFU cuz u obviously dont have a clue what ur talking about. So Ill leave it at this, u become faster than me, u can talk. Until then, shut ur damn piehole cuz all youre spewing is diarrhea of the mouth.

Personally IMO I think that Hyundai Genesis coupe is a bad ass lookin car. I hate Hyundai but I give em credit for making a nice ass car. I think you gotta give them credit for that at least. I mean I love cobalts to death but realisticly they can use a little exterior styling. Little more aerodynamic look at least. And everyone is hating on the 370Z and ill take one of those ANYDAY. There ****** sweet. I hear there some of the best drift cars too since there RWD, small, and pretty balanced. My .02 cents anyways.

therefore its not realistic, so all the garbage u listed off means nothing. Unless u plan on making a 900 hp application in a 2.2l ecotec that ISNT a DD, ur just full of hot air. Before u go quoting crap off the internet, u should do reasearch. Or maybe you should buy the ecotec build book like I did.

And mine isnt street legal either, Im catless. When I was talking about street legal, I was referring to streetable. U cant drive those cars around town u retard. Theyre towed to the track, beat on, then towed away. Spark pluges changed everytime, **** retentive maintenence, LOTS OF FUEL. U cant afford one of those, and even if U could, u wouldnt be able to drive it around.

Whats funny is the fact that I know more about ecotecs than u and I dont own one. Ironic huh?

Keep posting those cute pictures though. That seems to be all u can do.

And LOLZ at ur bolded statment! Hahaha ur such a ******* 14 yr old. "IM AN OUTLAW!" in ur cobalt 4-door sedan.

U sir are not an outlaw, u r a joke.

Wow, sounds like the cops in your neighborhood are a bunch of fatass power hungry ********. The cops that don't take **** don't need to be cops. Stuffing someones face in the pavement is useless for something like tint on a car.

Quit acting like the badass, cause you aren't, and lets get back on topic.
