574's TVS mini build
If its a total loss, I may buy this complete short block, swap it in. Then get mine sleeved and some aftermarket pistons. I just don't know yet. I change my mind every 30 seconds
When I first got my turbo kit I burned up the valves, melted them all the way through, fixed that and installe forged pistons like you did. A week later blew the wall out of the cylinder. I never built a motor but I said I had to learn someday.
This time I had a block sleeved for me to make sure I didnt ballon my cyl wall again, and lined up a dyno and a tuner to make it all worth it. I didnt do it though without stress and a lot of it. Ask mrbelvedere, had to send him 3 BLOCKS before we got it sleeved due to UPS breaking the timing area. Got the build going and ran low on funds, did it little by little and took about 4 months from start to finish. I then had to find several ways to fix timing issues, clutch issues, had to pull the tranny again because I forgot the spacer, had to fix a dozen other things in the process and I just now got my car back to daily driver duty.
Now I am going to rebuild the turbo this weekend (got my rebuild kit from UPS late in the evening today) due to leaking seals on the compressor side. It never ends, I didnt give up and I am still going forward even after all the crap. You have to pay to learn. Dont let the car win if you can budget it.
Good luck man. You are where I was about 6 months ago. Had a popped motor and decisions to be made. 6 months later I am enjoying something I built with my own two hands and enjoying the car the way I envisioned when I started this whole project last summer.
