I keep saying according to you guys, many of which are either experts or atleast have been down the road of building an ecotec, are saying to reuse pretty much every stock component. But hes not convinced, and i simply dont know enough to inform him one way or the other. Anyway he gaurantees me if i just slap my cam caps onto the new head my motor will self destruct in less than 100 miles

P.s., my friend/s arent retards, they speak the motor language very fluently, but none have dealt with 4cyl ohc motors yet. Their into big v8 n20 power haha

Staged, i know you swapped cams onto your stock head and reused you cam caps no problem, and im quite sure you reused all your stock components on your new head, correct? Hockeyman, 574, what about you guys?
I did not buy new cam caps when I swaped cams the first time, because the caps were the ones that belonged with the head.

I did not reuse them with my gmr head though.... that came with brand new cam caps.

Just use the caps that came with the head man. Don't make the build more difficult than it has to be, lol.

I bought my head from Japeatr and sent it to JR to be ported/assembled. We used the cam caps original to this head.

Ok found the cam caps they all look pretty clean on the inside.

Got my cams too! They look good, though looking at the wear on surfaces they look a bit beat up but should suffice. Only a few scratches beyond normal wear

Havent done **** yet!

Waiting on valves, valve stem locks, valve spring retainers then we can assemble most of the head.

This weekend ill be out of town at a wedding unfortunately. So during next week i hope to assemble the head, then rip off the bumper and everything else possible so that over the weekend we can take the motor out

Done! Took three sets of hands, a forklift, a lift, and about two hours to drop the cradle, get the engine and trans off the cradle, and the cradle back in so we could roll her into a trailer.
