My GMR head came with platnium plugs and the head is date coded 04.
The manual calls for platnium plugs, the exact plugs im selling in my current for sale thread.
My factory plugs (iridium):

Plugs from my GMR head (double platnium):

GM wouldnt install copper core plugs from the factory. They do not have the service life of plat or iridium, although copper is superior for performance.

All the manuals I've seen call for the NGK platnium plugs. Even my manual calls for platnium, yet it had iridiums from the factory. I guess just another odd ball thing GM did.
Did ya get your springs compressor buddy?
that's not completely true copper plugs do have the service life of iridium or platinum plugs it is more of a marketing gimmick but ive done several plug changes on 100k plus engines with copper plugs besides that the only difference between the copper iridium and platinum is the tip the core is still copper but the metal change in the tip is what makes it 10x harder to fire the plug

Copper are the best for performance, no need to beat a dead horse wondering which plugs to use.
Very, very odd. You sure the ones you worked on had factory plugs?
