Well I decided to talk to John Powell for his input on my motor. Hard to find a better person to talk to IMO. And for clarification before anyone points fingers at James I ASKED for an aggressive tune. Guess I got greedy haha.
"My guess. Meth did u in, along with the tune and everything else, just too aggressive for the mileage. Runaway detonation is hard to catch it happens so fast. Give u an example, when we dyno tune, we stand outside and listen to the motor for knock, a good ear can hear it, when hpt (the sensors ) doesn’t see it or pick it up. Meth can hydraulic things. But I think what happened here is you were on the edge tune wise, the second piston rings were already broken some time ago, the leaking coolant was the sleeve starting with a hairline crack, and then bang."

and it is the tune that will kill these motors, have had a few at well over 400whp for a few yrs' completely stock bottom end an never had any issue (well asside from blowing up transmissions and breaking hydraulic lash adjusters), and I"m talking daily driven cars pushing 20-30k miles +. hell infe's car is over 500whp on stock motor with just cams and valve springs sp6262 on 25-27psi. 3 transmissions dead though lol.
hell I was running over 500whp on pump gas until I got greedy and tried to push 32-34psi on the stock sleeves.

YES! which is why i still post every now and then.
i cranked 30psi on my stock long blocked lsj for a while and didn't have problems. till i narfed something in the map and tried to lift the head.
Thats one thing I often think about. When I did my ported head I put new factory head bolts in instead of ARP's. That was going on 2 years ago and 14,000 miles, and I have many WOT runs, track runs, dyno runs on the TVS and 2.7, but its still in the back of my mind.
30 psi
13.6 afr
36 degree's of timing
e85.
made dick for power. pushed coolant. why? because i wasn't paying attention when i redid the timing map for the halved map. whoops.
which leads me to think, how in the **** do people blow these things up? is it sheer stupidity of the end user and the "tuner" combined?
for argument sake, i fixed the map and the next pull was 370whp.
