^ lol

Reading owns him.

Well,so that we are comparing from the same points, can anybody find the .100 and .200 durations of stockers and say zzp stage 3s?

We could compare .050, .100, and .200 on each cam to see which one has a more aggressive lobe.

duration varies depending on who wrote the numbers

Not measured at a specific amount of lift. That is the entire point of .050 duration. Advertised is the one that varies. You can't take a cam and have it give you two different measurements of duration from .050 on one side of the lobe to .050 on the other side. Just not going to happen.

Advertised on the other hand, someone may measure at .002, .007, .000, .010 etc. Thats were cams become impossible to compare, because duration at over x amount of lift doesn't equal duration over y amount.

thats the point im trying to make but you cant compare advertised duration to @.50 and determine how nasty a cam is going to be there is more to it thats why i said duration varies depending in who wrote it down

Thats why I said we need to compare .050, .100 and .200, not .050 and advertised. It's whatever though dude, forgive me for trying to agree with you.

Its not that bad, zzp has always gotten back to me in a day or two any time ive called them and been able to help. I wouldnt be suprised if they were willing to post the specs on the lobes to compare them to less effective cams.

and you still know nothing about ramp angles even if you compare two cams with measured duration from the same point. You need to actually map out the lobe profile to understand the dynamics of valve operation with any given lobe. Its very easy to pop a valve open super fast, let it linger at full lift for a while then slam close, or you can have it open and close nice and slow and have no full lift dwell time, or it could open nice stay open wide and then slam shut. Numbers at any point are only good if you know how they relate. You need full lobe profiles, timing etc to truly compare cams. You get into assymetric lobe shapes and duration numbers don't mean **** for comparison.

Stop being too clever. You're over thinking things. If you have 2 cams and assume the advertised duration are both from the same timing marks the one with the higher duration at 050 lift will have a more aggressive ramp and lower intensity number.

I'm not being clever, you guys are the ones discussing ramp profiles and using two point on the lobe to compare, that's almost worthless now with asymmetric lobe profiles and other irregular lobe profile trickery possible. If you're gonna have an academic discussion of a subject how are you gonna tell me I'm being too clever when you're forgetting about very important variables and of course the fact that he already has the cams and seems committed to using them. He's clearly not gonna buy new cams because some other grind has a different profile.

What?! When did you become a mod? That is cool.

The ***** trolls have taken over this forum. The post useless none sense in every good thread. I don't care what goes on in the off-topic threads but it sucks when innovators like Steve and Jr have to deal with such none sense from the same people over and over again.

Good luck!
