battery is a few months old. It rained the other day too so I should be checking trunk seal too

Installed a new Xseries AEM wideband last night, it's really cool. Broader AFR range, reads 1/100ths, and stoich is centered in the gauge. Really nice

AFR did look better. Trims stayed the same. Imagine it's gonna stay roughly the same on the highway..
Laptop failed the moment I brought it inside and put it down on the coffee table, it was well passed it's time,

So lets chase the codes, I think it's time to test BCM for power and ground and replace if it passes all tests. I've never been more sure in my life lmao ffs , want to do fun things on the car haha, like add power and break something different.. We're so close, so close.. sob

B1517-Battery voltage implausible due to a 2V difference at the BCM for more than 10 seconds
U2108- loss communication with ABS/TCS control system (not specifically saying EBCM or TCM)
U2105- loss communication with ECM

It’s gonna be a bad BCM

-B3903 short or open stop lamp
-C0277 brake pedal position sensor data invalid

here one second gone the next.

Removed every fuse on BCM and cleaned all pins front and back.

Removed every fuse from PDC and cleaned all pins one by one.

Removed EBCM connector for the first time in its life, cleaned, applied dielectric grease and reseated it several times.

Fully anticipate some random BCM codes soon though I’ve been trying for an hour now

I really should get a wideband and maybe rail pressure or something along with my boost gauge. I still have the old triple gauge pillar I bought off somebody like... years ago.
Watch it be fine for a week then start popping codes again.

Road tested, went WOT, half way into the pull, car goes full lean 18 AFR and quickly lifted. WTF
Narrow band read the same, extremely lean.

too lean to be methanol pump cutting out

injector Pulse and commanded fuel was all there.

and of course no codes.
Well what does this mean now…

thats too lean to be methanol pump cutting out and I trust my wiring.
yet, no codes
Do you have a K&N CAI going into the wheel well? From that other thread I mentioned a few posts back, I think it was blu3_viper that mentioned that it was known for K&N that the cone had to be rotated 45°. I don't believe Injen or ZZP's has this issue.

ZZP CAI.

this is certainly a large curve ball. Man it was so lean it had to be injectors cutting out/ getting clogged, fuel pump stopping momentarily, a pressure drop or something.

I’ve seen my methanol pump cut out before, that would change the run from 11.5 to maybe 12.5-13AFR, not 18AFR with narrowband bottoming out. That was something I’ve never experienced before, truly scary.
I’m just glad my eyes were already pegged on the wideband rather than the road

and of course, drove it to work and fueling was absolutely perfect. 14.4-15.0, trims +3/-3

So it’s been a few days.
No a single code.
AFR at idle/ cruising/ wot have been absolutely perfect.
Calling this fixed for now.
————
As for the lean spike while driving.. I think I need to drop my fuel tank and rethink how I should have my AEM fuel pump fitted.

Because AEM’s pump would not fit into the bottom of the canister’s inlet, with the sock/ pick up screen on the other side.
So I removed the canister screen, installed the new pump higher up in the canister and used its new screen inside the canister.

Considering, I thought the fuel pump canister was suppose to remain full (because fuel return at the fuel filter dumps inside it)

Should I
A.) Simply put a new sock on the very bottom of my canister

or

B.) cut the lower portion of my canister, fit the AEM pump at the very bottom and use it’s screen?

Congrats! This was quite the journey for this.
As for the secondary, I haven't messed with the fuel pump other than the GT having the fuel leak issue. I don't think you should change the internal design of the tank because it will change the fluid dynamics of the gas sitting in it.

Well after talking to Ryan, I still don't really understand the fuel pump install 100%

I think I'm gonna drop my tank this weekend, If I remember correctly, the aftermarket pump should engage the lower portion of the canister and I can reuse my old screen on the bottom side of the canister.

But I still wonder, if the fuel pump is sucking from the inlet at the bottom of the canister, how does the canister being full even help the pump?

The pumps run very hot, so it uses the gasoline itself to cool down (that's why running empty is a quick way to destroy them, among some other issues).

Dropped fuel tank and revamped the fuel pump install, put oem screen back on and engaged aftermarket pump into bottom of bucket. I guess what threw me off was all the warnings saying to use the new screen had me all confused.

Bypass valve got stuck over the weekend, little lube and shes moving freely again.

Going real good now!

Very nice! Now it's time to really enjoy the vehicle. I finally bought a acdelco maf connector so I'll be doing that this weekend. If this works, I'll be doing the MAP one as well (P0106 has been creeping in lately).

Lots more I’d love to do to the car, but for right now I’m very contempt.

Not exactly sure what it was in the end.
Either water on the battery or terminal corrosion on BCM.

Good luck to you prof!

Went drag racing this weekend for the first time in 2 years!
I did not break 13s! (

But it was still a lot of fun.
Spun a little on my best run. It shows in the 1/8 mile km/h.
Nonetheless, really cool to see the car marginally improve.
Was 38C, stupid hot.
I feel like I was one run away from hitting 13s but they closed the track down for Cash days.

I think I need a nice cool day and it will run high 13s.

Ended the day with 23 degrees of timing, shift speed at 7050rpm in 1st and 2nd, launched at 2500rpm.
Not a lick of KR, Trans reduction duration was turned off.

There was another cobalt there with a built turbo motor, he had 100hp on me lol and was running 12.8-14 depending on if he bogged.

I do have a 2.7" pulley and a manifold spacer, would just need to machine my snout, debating it lol.

Every run bumped timing 0.5 degrees and 25rpm shift speed.
At least I walked away with a more spicy tune.

I'll post a log later, maybe someone can offer some ideas on how to squeeze a little time off

Finally enjoying it like it was meant to. I'm sure the temps didn't help (you can only air cool so much) but nothing is breaking, but you're pushing it further. Sweet taste of victory nonetheless!

Tuner green lit another few degrees of timing down low.
3K now 20
7K is 23.5

Work the 2nd last track day (it rains that day anyway)
And it's my significant other's birthday on the very last track day this year.

But I'm gonna try to go back and lay it all out there.

Haven't driven with the extra timing yet but I know it'll be spicy.
