Hey proven gains, for not that much, it could be the extra few that will put me over.

oh thats right, your shooting for 400+

your going to need a full p&p and/or larger displacement and/or higher CR or something

Compression ratio is what I'm looking at now to go with what i have planned
I don't think the larger displacement is an option for the time being

I have some pictures of my head port that I did last week when I had my engine out. First time I took on the job of porting a head...took about 10hours and I bet I could have put another 4-5 into it...thats why its so damn expensive to purchase a ported head...just be happy we dont have a v8...as I have seen 40hour port jobs. Maybe this will help you understand the porting:

That is looking at it from the combustion side. The top is the intake, bottom is exhaust. You can see on the intake side I only did the area around the valve seat as it tapers in restricting the flow. The intake side flows very well. The exhaust ports are much smaller and I did as much as I could to open them up. If you look closely you will see the gray lines around the ports...thats where the valves contact the head(the seat). The more material you remove from the inside of that seat the better your head is going to flow(The bowl).

Intake ports again looking down you see the area around the valves that were opened up. I didn't do anything to the short turn radius there either because it is already pretty quick.

This is my exhaust gasket after I matched it to my header. You can see how much more potential the exhaust side has. Remember though opening this area up does nothing if you don't open the bowl first. If you simply open this area up to port match gains are said to be around 5%. By opening up the bowl you should get results of twice that.

This is my final result on the exhaust side. Notice it does not look refined. I finished it off with 120g sanding drums. It is very smooth to the touch though. Polishing is said to produce the least for flow. Polishing honestly is for looks. I am not selling this job, nor looking at it after I put it in so I could care less.

I've read a couple people suggesting Level Zero Motorsports. Through my personal experience and quite a few on the Jbody forums do NOT buy from these guys. We ordered products that were never shipped, and no return e-mails after months of trying. No money was ever given back. This was about 3 years ago.

Goodluck modding!

Cams, zzp isnt going to do it for you. I'd be looking into getting custom grinds. OR since you will be in europe, you might be able to find a crazy euro grind that will work for your application. The euro cams are insane hollow billet stainless some for 10+ rpms all cost many thousand dollars.

Well we know 380ish is attainable with the right mods. So who is going to break 400? I'm on the stock bottom end so I don't see it happening this year

400 on meth with a built engine on a tvs.. Hmmn

I'm trying to decide on what compression ratio to go with for the pistons and debating whether or not the amount of money for rods is going to be worth it at all....

Go a little higher than stock with compression and go a little bigger, a 2.4 would get you over the mark.

I agree, LE5 bottom end, which puts you at 11:1 compression with the stock head and head gasket should be perfect.
