+1, I don't think he has ever really driven a big turbo car.

I can say I love driving Dan's Diesel Turbo more than I do Al's TVS.

Leave the kid alone, he wants to drive around a 13 second money pit, Just like 99% of the other people on here. One day he'll mature.

And for the Record this thread has FAIL and LMAOOMGBBQ all over it.

I've ridden in a Supra with a T67, an SRT-4 with a GT30, and a 240SX with a GT30 equipped RB20. Those are cars I've ridden in, cars I've driven include a 50 trim SRT-4, and I drove the GT35 M3 that I tuned. The 50 trim SRT didn't lag horribly, but the GT30 one lagged pretty bad, the 240 had some decent lag, the M3 had a lot more lag than I thought it would, and the Supra had the least lag. I'm just looking at it, I'm going from being supercharged instant boost, to a 2.0L motor with a GT35R.

I still dont understand why you gotta be so persisent about turbo vs supercharger. You gotta give to get. You'll fall in love soon enough.

cam, get that "gt35r" ideal out of your head.

Hot side sizeing plays a huge role in turbo spool, almost as much as turbine wheel size does.

A properly tweaked 35r will spool quite nice!!!

"35r" denotes only compressor wheel, cover AR and CHRA sizeing.

He'll u can even jump to an e-cover if u want, to play with how the turbo acts.
(it's smaller then the normal g cover)

"instant boost" isn't all it's cracked up to be far aas traction..

and let me ask you .. did you have any boost management in 1st on your setup? because if you did then you didn't have "instant boost either"

a turbo has instant boost .. just not instant full boost.. and it's much easier to have that for traction.. there's a reason people use trq management . and boost management in first gear..

for the amount of turbo cars you've ridden in you have a very big misconception of how a CORRECTLY setup turbo kit will spool/ run

... I'm just talking here... but;
- 'blower port' head
- blower grind cams
- turbocharger

I don't think enough time was spent in the books before this build.

It might not be too bad.

Theres a vendor here who should be offering the first aftermarket cams that arent base circle regrinds (or weld up for that matter) for the LSJ. He could pick up a set of blanks from them and play with valve area on a custom grind. Although I think he did say hes using longer valves to make up for the reground cams hes using which would just involve regrinding another set of stockers.

A few pages ago he mentioned switching over to JBP solids.

I dunno... it just looks like a waste... he should have choose a turbo to begin with and did all the work to suit.

I'm getting my valves trimmed down to the stock hight, and getting GM Cam blanks, sending them back to crane, for a stock base circle WTF crazy turbo grind. I plan on letting Bryan make the choices for my turbo, he knows his ****. I just say 35R because that turbo is about the size turbo I want, I'll need a biggie to make good power on 91 octane with 9.5:1 compression.

Last I checked, you didn't need the biggest baddest turbo to pull power out of an LSJ.

Listen to the turbo experts... pick a reasonable goal and try to size accordingly, taking in to account your mods.

Wasn't it like 414 whp? On like 24 psi, with 93-94 octane, in awesome weather. Keep into account, in AZ we only 91 octane, and its still shitty compared to the back east midgrade (89 octane). Also, in AZ keep in mind, the weather is tremendously hotter. During the summer, my intake air ONE temp rarely drops below 130 degrees. Thats air before the supercharger, before intercooler, thats practically ambient air temp. During winter its better, but thats still on like 3 months out of the year. Hell last week, it was like 92 degrees!!! I doubt I'll be able to run much more than 15 psi on pump gas safely. I want to make AT LEAST 400-420 whp on 91 octane, with no meth.

*cough*
If you have cams and a ported head....

... Joe was right... there is only a deep dark hole in the future of this project....
