@ everyone else;
I'd highly encourage you to come down for friday evening's "un-official" cruise.
Highlight of the weekend...

Sorry man I am terrible at names - when I saw you post up (frustrated) at what Jon said, I didn't immediately recognize your user name, and as a result did a quick edit on posts #9967 & #9969 ~ in hopes of having someone else to run against at race city ~ Should I ever get my crap together long enough to do some preventative maintenance on the 'gran-damn' so that i can bring it to the track...
The thing has about 230,000 miles (not km's) on the car, to the best of my knowledge running the original 100% stock shortblock (couldn't verify the vin on the engine when I last pulled it for the clutch job, head gasket & rear main seal), and was quite original when I bought it (out of Fresno, CA) in April 2007...
If any of you guys are seriously interested in going to race city (probably this month) let me know, I'm understanding that the tentative list of attendees is:
-Mark (jrmotosports 88)
-Jon (assuming he's in town; SylverSS/SC)
-Chris (kissrocker52)
Just so you guys know:
And an extra FYI: if the DA (Density Altitude; if you don't know what it is, look it up) is terrible, there's no guarantee what I will run - no matter which tires I am running...
So it could still be a full on drivers race with a little 'gran-damn' going home as the big looser...
I don't want to pump up my car as being some crazy tire burning full on Quarter mile screamer, when that isn't at all what it is - it has been built as a 100% street car that I can have some fun with at the track...
@ Chris
It was nice to have met you (again for the first time) this past Saturday!

Just so you guys know:
- You do not need helmets unless you seriously think you're going to break out of the fourteens (required for 13.99 & faster)
- Admission for car & driver is $25
- Admission for spectators is $5
- Gates often open early, and tech is slated to start @ 6pm
- Racing is supposed to start @ 7:30pm
- Although I have seen it occasionally happen, I believe that as a general rule of thumb, they do not allow passengers in cars running on the track.
And an extra FYI: if the DA (Density Altitude; if you don't know what it is, look it up) is terrible, there's no guarantee what I will run - no matter which tires I am running...

Hey Jon, I'm only home for a week this month. gotta go back to work til the 28th. but if my brake parts come in and I get them done I would love to race at race city. I'll keep ya posted on that one!
ok i guess i missed alot here over the weekend...... as per say i hope the lil burnorange birdie isnt me.... if it is then i was really mis quoted.. i didnt relize torque became hp lol hahaha if it does then tell me how lol. a clutch will always help torque for sure...it sounds like alot of trash talk happening here lately we need to settle some scores lol. so when your ready to kick my ass jon lets do it. as far as a rc night i am ready lol lets break a cv shaft lol. what is the plan on sun guys for lethbridge???? as for al freaking bundy lol did you do something to change the fact that you have a serious problem in a auto??? if so please do tell... lol coz i bet that 2.2 still has you lol. but i have been wrong before lol hey i am in the city now guys.. i hope you all come visit me soon. just pm if interested and i shoot you my adress and number.
LOL the orange birdie could be anybody! lol well apparently it's bashing one's car. somepeople just don't know a joke when they see one! just give me the time and the place and I will see if I can make it. not gonna be home much this month. so when is the house warming party????? lol
lol well i dont bash anyones ride lol so it isnt me.... hahaha sounds like alot of here say. not sure about a house warming lol the landlord lives underneath us lol maybe a bbq, lil cobalt meet tho. well it sound like you need to give me a time then and we will race at rc. kinda pointless however you kick my ass, but i wanna see how close i am to a stg car.
I have often heard the following term associated with that end of town though:
(warning not a politiaclly correct statement pending!!)
paki-paradise
(highlight above line to read)
that is a cheaper area of town, which is why businesses will often start out there to see how it does in this city;
- Ikea started out there; and later moved to a more permanent location @ deerfoot crossing
- I'm bummed that Krispy-Kreme left
I do like living in other areas - for example, where I live, one of my neighbors has repeatedly left his garage door open - I have normally closed it for him, but I have not heard of any of my neighbors having to deal with a theft/vandalism to date...
Well, except for my brother having some baby formula/ baby bottle, and some change stolen out of his car once (although we suspect the hobos who have been around our area are to blame)... even then we think it was because the car was left unlocked overnight ~ and one of these hobo's crashes regularly at the house at the end of our street
lazy sacks of s@#t homless bums - get a friggin job alreay ~ there is no excuse for a repeat bike stealing 40ish year old bum to be in this city...
I have heard of that kind of stuff happening all over. my sister's car was rummaged through a few months ago. she left it unlocked. we figured it was a bunch of kids. and my sisters friend who lives on the next block had her truck broken into. GPS and other stuff was taken. so I guess you can't call one place the bad part
thx for stopping by jonathan, its good to see the peeps... ya it isnt a great area but what is??? honestly tho where i am you dont even realize it is there.... it is so quiet. so who's all going to lethbridge on sun for the show n shine???
I don't plan on sticking around Lethbridge till sunday... but who knows...
@ mark;
yeah I prefer to talk to people face to face as often as possible...
@calgarybalt;
Hey! ~ you're back!
Might you be in for meeting up @ race city?
@all;
I feel that generally speaking communities south of glenmore, north of 22x, east of macleod trail, or not too far west of macleod are all good;
I don't know hte north too well, as when my family moved to calgary somewhere around 1980, we have always been in the SE (the neighborhoods my family has lived in up till I was kicked out, err moved out of my (by then) mom's place look like this: Bonivista Downs, briefly to Okotoks, to Midnapore, then finally, Midnapore
)
I had only a couple issues with my place I rented in southwood for roughly four years (late '00 through late '04)...
Generally speaking, if it's lower income, or high rental, you're going to have crime - the 'poorer' the area, the more crime ect...
I say that knowing full well I'm in one of the few the trashy areas of Riverbend...
ok you two, please don't turn this wonderful thread into a fight.
Graham - Cranston blows
~ find a more developed neighborhood north of 22x, and then you will know what I mean...
FYI: sticking to the west side of fish creek is even better...
I love older neihborhoods, and frankly I'd love to have an older decent sized bungalow (with a detached garage) in the Acadia area... that or if Midnapore shapes up, move back there.
