Automatics - B&M Shiftplus!
piece of cake... should only take you 30 minutes to an hour
okay so everyone who has this- should i get it.. i can get it for 37.00 and i want to know if it was worth it... I have been making a descion about it and the install doesnt look terribly hard.. and the shifting is good i hear, so was this a worth while investment?
YES X10000!
What's up everyone, kinda new to the site and I've been reading through this thread and i'm thinkin this is somethin that I'll definitely consider gettin but i was thinkin about the effects of using a torque damper along with it when I save up some money. Would this somewhat ease the kick since its reducin the movement of the engine?
why would you want to reduce the kick? thats exactly what the B&M is trying to do...shift so fast it kicks! keep in mind, you can always just turn off the B&M witha flick of a switch if you get tired of the aggressive shift...i love it though, and drive daily with it on 2
I'm not tryin to reduce, what i meant to say had to do with some ppl had concerns about it wearin the trans out quicker or somethin i meant to say would the damper be a good investment to help out with that?
reduce the kick*

this will most likely extend the life of your transmission. the weakest parts in a 4t45e are the clutch packs...this will speed up the shift, causing more of the force to be exerted on the actual axles opposed to the clutch packs and friction plates...also, because there is less movement on the clutch packs, there is less heat generated through friction, and heat is the #1 killer of an automatic transmission
ideally, if your trying to make your transmission last longer, get a transmission cooler and change to synthetic tranny fluid

I was just on the B&M site and the ShiftPlus (part # 70380) is only for RWD GM vehicles. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong. I was going to buy one today, but then I saw that.

I bought mine, trust me it will work, if you ahve been reading up on parts here youll see. Also I am sure Hack wouldn't advertise a part that wouldn't work for us? Lame mine comes on Monday, I was all excited to. I wanted to test it out tonight at the races, oh well.
depends on your idea of fast, i have never equated acceleration and speed. truth is, 90% of the cars on the market today will easily exceed 100mph on a public street if so instructed, that's pretty damn fast.
the other side of it is, most of the cars that people tradtionally think of as fast, are not by todays standards. look at muscle cars, you'd be hard pressed to find too many that will run better than a 14.5 or 15 second 1/4 mile, nor would you be likely to find many that would do better than 110 flat out. ****, that's a 2.4SS on a good day.
the simple fact is, it's not that most cars are "too slow", it's that some are "too fast"

For those that didn't read the whole thread, You CAN change the settings while the engine is turned on and in Park, To make harder shifts. You still have to turn the engine off and switch the Shiftplus back to normal to reduce the line pressure back to norm. But it's a pretty cool little feature that I can change how my car shifts while sitting at a stoplight.
